yes, it is. you're probably consuming a lot more fiber (i.e: bread, brocolli) and that'll do it to you. its also possible that you've substituted a lot of your meat products with dairy, which will also cause gas.

But if you're trying to lose weight, I'd cut back on the dairy, too or at least switch to skim. Dairy has LOTS of fat.

Only if you've been eating a lot of beans.

Averting a Gas Crisis -
Tips to avoid the embarrassing side of healthy eating

Gradually phase in high-fiber foods, chewing them well to start digestion.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Get regular physical activity (like a daily “constitutional” walk).
If certain fruits or vegetables give you gas, try cooking and/or peeling them to help make them more digestible.
When cooking dried beans, soak them first, then discard the liquid to get rid of some of the difficult-to-digest carbohydrate. Likewise, drain and rinse canned beans before using.
Flavor your foods with seasonings used throughout the world to make problem foods less gassy, such as ginger, fennel seeds, turmeric and coriander. Scout ethnic groceries for epazote―an herb frequently paired with beans in Mexico and the Caribbean―and asafoetida, a spice common in East Indian cooking.
Lastly, consider an over-the-counter aid, such as Beano?, which supplies an enzyme to digest some of the gas-inducing carbohydrates.

Yeah, I think that's common. Vegetables will give you a bit of gas, esp. brocolli, cabbage, etc.

people always get gas after eating veg like broccoli or Brussels sprouts

You are probably eating more fiber which causes gas.

NO!!!!, it is not becuz u r veggie, it is becuz when u r eating food and when you talk, the air outside enters your body through your mouth (which is not a normal thing, cuz air is supposed to enter from your nose) when the air enters yer body, it has to go out becuz it can not be stuck there so that is why you burp or fart

i hope this is what you wanted cuz i didn't get what u meant by "gas"

A couple of other hints:

1. If cooking beans, try sprouting them first--even soaking overnight and then leaving in the sprouter for a day will change their chemistry and reduce flatulence potential.

2. Never cook beans in same liquid used for soaking.

3. Educate yourself about balancing your diet. You'll need to understand which foods contain protein, carbs, and fats. Try to balance things (in the same way Barry Sears does in his "zone" diet) so that you're getting roughly a third of your calories from proteins, carbs, and from fats.

thought it was bacteria working on stuff in your intestines

lol!! I get terrible gas, especially from tofu..My other half is even worse!! :)

Eating vegetarian food does not give you gas. May be you are eating lots of beans and nuts. Eat the nuts and beans like chic peas and red kidney beans etc. in lesser volumes.

Any kind of vegetables even cabbage does not give you gas (don't know about broccoli... we wont eat it). I am a vegetarian from childhood.

If you eat fake sausage or burgers with processed soy, they are especially gassy. Also, soy ice cream is so bad that I just won't eat it. If you smell bad, cut out garlic.

I'd say it's either from an unbalanced diet or possible a detox symptom (not sure how unhealthy/healthy you were before).

Try cutting out fizzy drinks, drinking lots of water, peppermint tea (which makes people fart, but it helps release trapped wind! have it in the evening), and trying to eat meals that are well rounded- good mixes of proteins, carbs and vegetables.

Eat slower, chew better. Gas can also be linked to a stressful lifestyle, so if you're running around like crazy, not allowing food to get digested properly etc, you may want to wind it down a bit.

I tend to get gassy when I'm under severe stress.
