Raw food - is it true re getting allergies??
We juice raw kale every morning and have never felt better. Sometimes add celery or parsley, spinach. All organic. My neighbor says this is dangerous that if we dont mix it around we can develop a severe allergy to the one we have every day? is this really true? why? proven?
Answers:
Yes, its true. I developed severe allergies from overdoing certain foods. If you constantly bathe your system with a food high in amines, such as kale, you could develop joint pain, muscle aches, etc, and eventually an allergy to that food. Its best to rotate foods, being careful to not consume the same food in a four day period. Try beets, carrots and celery one day, kale, parsley, and cucumber the next, spinach, pear and ginger the third, and swiss chard, lime, and apple on the fourth. This keeps the body high in nutrients, but doesnt expose it to the same elements every day. I find that if I eat a food more often that every 4 days, I will have aches and pains. I do fine if I keep it all rotating. Celery and cucumber are great alkalizers-and disease cant live in an alkaline environment. I only found this out recently-I have been juicing carrot, cucumber, celery, parsley and swiss chard each day for years, with some minor ailments I could not pin point-now that I keep them rotated, the minor ailments are gone.
Not true. Ask for documentation of evidence to support their statements. Allergies are mostly from air pollution. DFW is bad. Tell people not to move here anymore.
Well, eating a lot of one particular food has been shown to be a risk factor for developing a food allergy. This usually applies to people at risk for them anyway, though (family history, not being breast fed). Also, fruits and veggies account for less than 3% of food allergies. So, I'm not sure if kale's really something to worry about. Still, why don't you mix it up a little? Kale is great for you, but sticking to just any one food means you're missing out on some nutrients others have to offer. Why not try chard every now and then? :-)
Absolutely not true. I've been juicing for quite a few years. I mix my fruit and veggies. I spice it up with garlic and ginger and, like you, I've never felt better. :-) You're just fine. If you want to drink the same juice every day, it's okay. If you want to vary it, it's okay too.
ask your neighbor to prove it or show some proof. He probably doesn't have any.
