What are the best things to eat if your a Vegetarian?!

Question:

What are the best things to eat if your a Vegetarian?

My best friend is a vegetarian and kids are making fun of her and calling her a nature freak, so i wanted to prove to them and my best friend that just because if your a vegetarian that you shouldn't worry about what others think it's there perspective. Now since i've been a vegetarian for almost 4 weeks i'm not sure what else to eat besides fruit, salads, ect... what else could i eat?

Answers:
it depends on whether you're vegan (no animal products) or ovo-lacto vegetarian (eggs and dairy products but no meat). I suggest you go vegan for multiple reasons...your health the environment, the animals, etc. this site has a lot of vegetarian stuff on it...you might want to check it out...you can even order a vegetarian starters kit: goveg.com. you can sign up for weekly vegan recipes, too. For veganism, there's soy meat and soy cheese and tofu and many other things, but you have to check ingredients frequently to make sure there isn't any eggs or milk or anything. Usually wheat bread doesn't have any eggs or milk products or anything but you never really know. If you're an ovo-lacto vegetarian, there's still eggs and dairy products and vegetables and such. There's also a lot of veggie meat, but it's not ALWAYS 100% vegan (for example morningstar veggie nuggets have egg whites). I highly recommend Boca veggie burgers more than any other veggie burger. If you're not going vegan, then Amy's microwavable food products are very good, too. Vegetarians can eat beans, but in some cases vegans cannot because some canned beans have pork or other meats in it. Oh, and pasta is quite good as well.
By the way, a "vegetarian" who eats chicken or fish is not a vegetarian at all. A vegetarian does not eat ANY meat, red or not. The exact definition of a vegetarian is: "A person who does not eat animal flesh, or in some cases, no animal products" (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vegetarian...
Good luck and I'm glad you joined the international club of vegetarians. In a way...haha

tofu- beans - nuts. all really good protien content and great meat alternitive

Depending on what type of vegetarian you are you can eat different things. Look at labels. You need to be very careful to get all your essential nutrients which is very hard to do if you are a vegetarian.

you can make yourself veggie stir frys, soups, meatless(or meat substitute) spagetti, lasagna....just about anything
you should try going to www.allrecipes.com
they have a vegetarian section, and ratings from other people who have tried the recipes

you can eat about anything. maybe eating everday foods would help, such as pb and j. fruit with honey is good too. but since you want variety, i suggest going to vegcooking.com/searchRecipes.a...
i found a lot more stuff to eat here

check this site is is very useful for all vegetarians

cereals eggs yogurt

You can still eat a lot of things. If you are a vegetarian and not a vegan, you can still consume hearty desserts like pie, donuts, ice cream, and etc. Most breads are still edible, and I find that as a vegan for myself, I am more open to a wider variety of soup combinations. There are also Luna bars, which have no animal byproducts and are very tasty; I eat them myself. Just check labels often and be creative.

portobello burgers, seasoned tofu, boca burgers (including "chicken...") Soooo good. And I'm not even vegetarian! There are so many options! Squash, and beans, and soups, just search online. Or buy a vegetarian cookbook. You'll be surprised.

That is really awesome of you to stand by your friend like that.
Tofu is the best... it absorbs whatever flavor you are making.

You can eat most everything you did before, just not with the meat. You can also find awesome meat substitutes in any grocery store; they are great for making the transition.
