Vegan Wine?!
Vegan Wine?
I'm lactose intolerant and vegetarian (because I don't like meat not cos I don't want to eat animals) and I love wine :) Am I right in thinking that, generally speaking, wine without dairy products in it isn't vegetarian?
Answers:
Well, I've never heard of a vegan that had a problem eating yeast.... Actually, the reason wine may not be considered vegan or vegetarian is because of the possible agents used to fine or filter the wine. These can include egg products, gelatin, and even dried blood. Ick. In addition, beer can be clarified using fish products. Try googling "vegan wine" and there are quite a few websites with listings.

Plus lots of helpful info on what wine is and isn't vegan/vegetarian, and why
Wine doesn't have dairy products at all.
Though it is good with cheese.
I used to be a vegan/vegiatarian cook. The reason some vegans don't drink wine is either it has honey or beacuse the fermenting agent is living. Which isn't true for the best of wines either. Some people are unaware that cheap wines are hyper aged with such additives.
Natural grape juice has properties that make it ferment on it's own. Wine should be 100% vegan.
