What kind of Fiber?!

Question:

What kind of Fiber?

I am vegan and I know that it is important to get a lot of fiber. When I read labels- am I looking for soluble fiber or insoluble? What is the kind that is the most beneficial?
Please explain which one is best and how they differ.

Answers:
As a vegan I'm sure you're getting all the fiber you need. Basically, soluble fiber forms a gel when mixed with liquid, while insoluble fiber doesn't, it passes through you intact. You get soluble fiber from vegetables, berries, fruit, nuts, beans and some grains like oatmeal and barley. While you get the insoluble fiber from whole grains, whole wheat bread, brown rice, cereal. On food labels, it's not required to state what kind of fiber it is. (In Canada anyways) Thanks for being kind to animals. :)

Just like the previous poster said, if you eat veggies you're getting your fibre. As a vegan, this is not something to worry about unless you only live on processed stuff.
