Yes, depends on your climate zone. Find out what zone you are and grab a bunch of seed catalogues, and find the ones for your zone. But basically, there are tonnes of things that are winter hardy. You should be able to fill your garden right up with winter stuff, plus, canning, drying, root-cellar storage = plenty.
