Congratulations! It really depends on where you live. In areas with a lot of vegetarians and vegans, mock meats can be around the same price as their animal equivalents. But in other areas, they can be quite pricey. At any rate, the quality ranges considerably. Personally, I think Tofurkey, and Redwood, and Tofutti products are among the best. Also, while these products might help your transition to a plant-based diet, you should focus on eating good foods. Check out www.vegweb.com. There's loads of vegan recipes ranging from easy and cheap to gourmet and elaborate.
more expensive. i think they are a rip-off.
meat replacement items are more expensive, but they usually taste pretty bad too. i eat it sometimes, but i think that vegan food is best when it's just normal food without the meat and dairy.
look up some vegan recipes that are not comparing to nonvegan things, because they will never be as good.
things that are not replacements always taste really good, though!!
Congrats on becoming vegan :-) I stopped eating meat at 13, and became a vegan at 17.
These kinds of foods are pricey - but sometimes convenience foods are convenient! So they have their use, but as you have just turned vegan it is a good idea to learn to cook vegan meals without meat replacements as you'll soon get to know how to cook really easy balanced meals. You could get a recepie book - some have really quick easy meals, and it'll be great trying lots of new things.
