The bag and bulk soybeans sold at health food stores usually haven't been sterilized so you can plant those. If you choose this route wrap a few beans in damp paper towels to insure they'll sprout (in case they're old).
Be aware that soybean seed is in short supply this year! The weather killed a lot of the early crop so farmers had to buy more seed to replant.
As far as taste goes it depends on what you want to do with the crop! For edamame I like the Asian ones like the Shiritori that Burpee sells but it really doesn't make that much difference. The Amerikanized Laura beans are good also, your soil, fertilizer, weather etc. make just as much difference in the taste as the variety you choose! Also as a general rule varieties that produce smaller beans produce beans with a higher percentage of oil (which I like for milking), the larger variety beans have less oil (as a rule).
Whatever you decide to plant be sure to let at least a few pods mature (ripen, turn hard and brown) on the plant to save for next years growing season. There's no true hybrid soybeans so you'll get the same type of beans next year!

I have read online at some of the soymilk maker websites that Laura soybeans taste less beany for soymilk. Fairview farms sells them online. I have not tried them.
