You need to try and see it from your mothers point of view. Try reflective listening. Why doesn't she want you to be a vegetarian? Doesn't think its healthy? Doesn't want to cook different food? Thinks you are against her way of eating?

What you need to do is sit down with her and tell her you understand. For example if she thinks it is unhealthy, start out by saying... Mom I understand you are concerned with me becoming vegetarian. And I appreciate your concern. I know you are trying to do what is best for me as my mother, looking out for my health. I have looked into being a healthy vegetarian, read books, talked to people, etc. I hope in time you may understand why I have made this choice, you do not have to agree with me on the decision, but I would appreciate if you support my decision.

Do not judge, preach, etc. Do not attack your mother for what she thinks. It just causes confrontation.

Cook for yourself if your mother is trying to trick you. If she offers you something with meat, politely say you do not eat meat any more, thanks anyway.

A lot of times this is hard for parents, they see it as their child moving toward independence, and that is difficult for some parents. You are coming into your own, and maturing as a person. The fact that you are beginning to make bigger decisions that are effecting the way you live may be a bit scary/intimidating for your mother.

i think you should tell her how important this is for you and if she still doesn't agree, ask if you can try it for a week and see if it works. i have a feeling it will be a lot harder than it seems in theory. Good luck!!!

There are some books that cover these kind of issues. You may wish to find and read this.

Tell your mother that trying to trick a vegetarian into eating meat is not only cruel, but extremely disrespectful and just plain evil.

She can't force you to eat meat. Tell your parents that they cannot dictate whether or not you are a vegetarian. If they don't have to do anything special for you then they should have no problem with it... though I do seriously think they're messed up in the head if they think being a vegetarian is stupid.

trying to trick you is so disrespectful. Its the sort of thing kids do !

try looking on the vegetarian socity website, they have great articles for new veggies/teens that will be very useful to you. They also have a parents pack so your rather ignorant parents can read up on it. - all free stuff

see www.vegsoc.org

People are often scared of what they don't know. Stick yto your ideas and try to make is as least confrontational as possible.
