The killing of animals for meat?
do you think the way animals are killed and treated is wrong? i just found a website about it and it all most made me sick i mean whats wrong with some people? whats give them the right to kick punch and make the animals suffer so badly?
Answers:
First off.... if the website you went to was peta.org, don't go there again unless you're seeking amusement. PETA seems to value the life of a cockroach more than the life of a human.
Now, I know that modern day slaughterhouses are rather gruesome and hellish. Most of the pain that happens to animals there is completely avoidable if....
1. the slaughterhouse workers wouldn't take out their anger on the animals
2. meatpacking companies would use more modern, humane methods of killing the animals (they don't because humane methods cost more money)
3. (many more!)
Now then, besides slaughterhouses, you really can't control how every other person in the world treats animals. It all depends. There are good people, there are bad people. Just treat animals kindly yourself, and hopefully other people will follow your example.
=( eeh, I don't want to think about it.
there tenderizing the meat
If everythig is done according to code a bolt is shot into their brrain dying instantly then they are slaughtered and hey it what they are here for
okay there dead when they do all that stuff and they only show you the bad stuff
i think we can eat animals, but not abuse them. i hate to see things where animals are badly abused, but the reason animals are on earth if for us to eat, so i think its ok if you kill an animal quick without causing them pain if you eat it.
For those big companies it's all about the bottom line so they pack those chickens up and feed them low-quality food.
I prefer the natural free roaming chickens. In fact, I think I might head over to the park today and nab myself one of them. Mmmm... tasty.
In all seriousness though, we should be worrying more about the inhumane treatment of people happening all over the world, not about these animals. We should get our priorities straight.
all i got to say is...cow punchers....they make 'em in texas, and it is an art form. anyway, most of these documentaries are incredible bias and are chosen from isolated insidence, before i proform an autopsy (especially after) i like to give the corpse a few slaps. it ain't cruel it is life and we are here to snuff it out
Dude I hear ya! I've heard some things like that. The killing shouldnt be brutal at all. Sometime I think "why kill at all". Yes meat is good but is tortured meat good? no it isnt! God gave the animals into our hands, to carefully use them if we need to. Not to become demented slayers! I totally agree, I'm am such a animal lover!
Free the Llamas!!! prevent the animal abuse!!!
If we over think things then we get grossed out and it becomes bad. But - and this is important . You were born with and have teeth for eating both meat and vegetables. Doing less is against nature and for those believers out there - against the designs and intentions of your God. Eat a well balanced diet in accordance with the governments food pyramid. That is perhaps the only truth government has ever told and we should follow that.
thats why im a vegetarian
well not so much because of how they are killed but more because they are killed
it is very wrong and disturbing i do not eat meat because of the way the animals are treated. it is unfair and should be punnishable by law.
I have no idea how animals are killed for meat. I thought there were guidelines to humanely kill them for food.
Absolutely! It kills me to watch those videos, it makes me so angry. If I ever witness anything like that, I get animal control and I'm over at that persons home faster than you can imagine. I will not deal with animal cruelty and most importantly I will not stand by and watch it happen. Go onto PETA.com for ideas on how to take a stand and fight animal cruelty.
Of course it is wrong. That is why many of us here are vegans and many vegetarians. If you are not yet, you might want to reconsider, since you obviously don't agree with the way animals are treated. (and that should be a natural reaction of every human being)
Meat industry doesnt want you to know, because they want to sell animal products, but there is a lot of information available on the internet, if you are interested in finding out the true price of meat.
For Pickle: There is no "humane" way of inslaving and murdering another creature. PETA might not be the most honest organisation, but those video clips on their site are real. Suffering is real.
edit,
I see some people here are discrediting those video clips without actually knowing where you got them from (if you saw any?). So why dont you check out information and clips from different vegan organisations and compare? And also if you really want to know, there is a possibility of visiting a slaughterhouse, (just drop in!) so you can see it with your own eyes.
I don't think it's wrong. They are killed about as humanely as possible... they don't punch/hit/kick them... they are just quickly put down then slaughtered.
The website was funded by peta right. Animals are not usually treated that bad i bet peta does a hundred investigations and uses the worst footage to get their point across. They are just trying to accomplish their goals. They are biased but really who isnt biased. Its a personal decision if you dont think eating meat is wrong its ok and if you think it is acceptable ok. Its not like you are being an evil person for eating meat.
yea, that's why you should eat either halaal meat or kosher meat because they don't kill the animal violently. the animal does not feel any pain and all the blood drains out. if the animal is treated poorly or if it's too old and sick then it is out of the question to use it for meat. of course we don't say kill, we say sacrifice.
Yes,it is completely wrong. The sad thing is that it is uneeded and people don't care,as long as they have a hamburger.
Because people like that are just EVIL, utterly lack a conscience, and are lower than the lowest life form on this planet.
That's why I make sure the meat that I do eat is free range, organic, and humanely slaughtered. Usually Halaal or Kosher.
i am a vegan and i think it's wrong because what did animals ever do to you? there are many other reasons that there are animals in this world. and you guys are just treating them for food there is other food that is healthy and non-violence for animals
