Now that i'm vegetarian...?

will i start losing weight??? because i do want to lose 10 but now that i dont eat meat will it be easier???

Answers:
As long as you don't overindulge in carbs, like breads and the like, you might lose some weight. It varies. As a new vegetarian myself, I'm finding it hard to resist breads, hehe. But if you do also cut out dairy and eggs (including cheese), you'll be more likely to lose weight.

You might. At first I did since I wasn't too familiar with what to eat, or at least too lazy to learn to cook.

I would suggest concentrating on eating more fruits and vegetables since they will not add much to your weight and are good for you in the first place. So instead of eating a bag of chips eat a fruit or fruit cup, etc...

don't eat a lot of red meat and eat slow when u eat

Well as long as you try to eat mostly healthy green veggies, not alot of breads and pastas, and take a vitamin suppliment, you should be healthy and lose weight easier. Don't cut out bread entirely, brown breads and whole grains can help you alot, they're better for you, and as long as you do some sort of exercise to burn off the carbs you're intaking, then it'll balance out and you should lose weight.
Though you could still eat lean meats and lose weight too, but if you became vegetarian for the reason of not being able to eat meat, or doing it for a belief and moral reason, then don't let me push you into eating it. Just make sure to take a vitamin suppliment daily since your body will be missing the minerals and nutrients that meat gives your body.
As long as you make healthy choices, exercise regularly and don't eat junk food (okay a little is fine, but don't over indulge) you should lose that 10 pounds easy. Doing it healthily and slower is a good thing, don't try to drop it all right off the bat, by making bad decisions, you will only put it on and more again later.

You can lose weight on a vegetarian diet and still eat sensibly. Losing weight has a lot to do with your metabolism, age, and what you eat to get your body burning off the fats. I agree that exercise is important. It is not necessary to go to the gym, walking daily can help burn carbs and is good for your heart. A vegetarian diet can provide you with all the nutrients you need if you know which foods you need to eat and what combination makes up the nutrients necessary for a healthy body. Buy yourself a cookbook of vegan or vegetarian recipes. Choose wholegrain organic grain breads (not plain brown bread), lots of green leafy vegetables, also carrots, squashes, and broccoli. Use olive oil in your cooking. Start your day with grapefruit or an orange, soya milk, an egg (if you eat them) and an organic cereal (preferably multi grain.) Beans and lentils are important to your diet, have them for lunch or dinner. Try having smaller meals and a snack of fruit or vegetables (raw) between meals. Stay away from junk foods, try dried fruits, nuts, or fresh fruit instead. Raw or steamed vegetables are best. Drink water instead of tea, coffee or pop. Fruit juices without added sugar are good too. Do not overdue any one type of food, especially your breads or nuts...they definitly can put weight on. Start walking every day, go swimming, dancing, bowling, inline skating, anything that keeps you physically active and you will trim down and feel great. Muscle weighs more than fat so you may not be much lighter but you will be healthier and look good. Losing weight and maintaining a desirable weight depends on your commitment to a change in eating habits and lifestyle. You could drop 10 pounds quickly and then put it right back on if you switch to fast foods, sugary treats, fried foods and lots of breads and pasta. Enjoy and be healthy!

It depends on what you do eat. Burn more calories then you take in and eat healthy foods and you will lose weight.

when i became a vegetarian at age 11 i lost 20 pounds within about 2 months

odviosaly it wont be the same for everybody. when i went vegetarian it was four days before christmas so there wasnt very much vegetarian food around and shortly after my switch, i visited panama for about 3 weeks where the seafood is aparently delicious so my parents would always drag me to these seafood restraunts where there was nothing for me to eat...so it was odvious that i was going to loose a lot of weight

it really depends on what you eat: if you eat lots of salads and stuff than yeah youll prolly loose a lot of weight but i know a vegetarian who pretty much lives on frech fries and pasta...if your like him than the chances of you gaining weight are better than loosing it
