Answers:
you are making a big change, i would introduce yourself to it slowly and get used to the new diet with recipes etc until you have a well balanced diet for nutrional needs and for your flavour cravings....the more you are prepared for you new diet lifestyle the better chances you will have of success & staying there good luck

dont stop eating meat just eat healthy meat such as fish from farms or meat low in fat

There is a great book just for you. It's called The Gradual Vegetarian. It is written to help you make the shift painlessly and with all the nutrition you need to be successful. I put a link for it below. You can also do a search for it at Amazon.

There is no such thing as withdrawal symptoms from meat. There is nothing in meat that makes you crave it.

Therefore, its all in your head. and you are finding it difficult because you are still in the mode that you are restricting or limiting yourself.

once you change your mindset to one of "i've liberated my pre-conceptions on food and now have a fantastic variety of cruelty free food" you will never want meat again.

surely the pain, cruelty and abuse your meat-eating pays for is enough ? Why would you ever continue to eat meat if you now seem to know the truth behind the meat industry ? Are your tastebuds really so improtant that you need to have animals suffer for it ?

I think you are making the right choice, you just need to jump away from the meat....now.

done yet ?

Good, nice one

I switched about 3 years ago, and not only do I not crave meat, the thought of eating it now seems kind of gross. Bottom line, it won't take your body long to adjust and you won't crave it at all.

I am somehow reminded of smokers who go through withdrawals when in the process of quitting. Some of them say they gradually cut down until they have given up completely. So for you, maybe instead of going "cold turkey" right away, you can gradually cut down on the meat so you won't miss it too much eventually. I'd suggest eliminating the red meats first because they're considered less healthy than white meats (I guess added hormones/saturated fat might contribute to that, I'm not sure). Make sure you get lots of protein from other sources (e.g. milk, yoghurt, whole wheat bread, peanut butter, lentils, etc). You can always try the meat alternatives (e.g. soy meats) when you are really feeling withdrawals.
Good luck! I'm sure it'll get easier once you're over the initial tough part.

Eat an apple before every meal and every time you feel hungry. When you get tired of apples, switch to bananas. In a few months, your desire for meat should diminish, and then one day the meat will make you throw up.

Get some literature (librariess are great)and check out the numerous resources on the web. The more educated you are about your choice to be a vegetarian, the easier it is too abstain.

it will be hard the first few weeks.
after a few weeks you will fell better.
