Question:

Some questions about vegetarianism?

A week ago I decided that I want to be a vegetarian, I haven't eaten meet since then :) right now I'm just trying to know as much as possible about vegetarianism. I have some questions and I would really appreciate it if you answer them :) they're stupid question i warn you lol

1. is it true that people who call themselves vegetarians who eat eggs and dairy are not real vegetarians? I could give up on meet but I could never give up on eggs and cheese :)

2. if someone cooks for you something like pizza and they put some meet in it, can you remove the meet and eat the rest, or should you just not eat it at all?

3. does being a vegetarian mean that you should not cook any meet for your children, husband or whoever?

4. if a vegetarian HAD to eat meet (like once a month or a year) is he still a vegetarian? I am guessing no....but I'm just guessing :)

well, i think it's mainly your own opinion on how strict of a vegetarian you want to be.

1. it is not true. there are different types of vegetarians, such as lacto-ovo who eat eggs/dairy. vegans do not eat any form of dairy.

2. i don't pick food off, i'd rather just not eat it.

3. thats your personal opinion, i think.

4. why would they have to eat meat once a month? who's forcing them?

1) vegetarians can eat animal by-products like egg and milk
Vegans dont eat any animal products at all
2) That is a matter of opinion some people do some poeple dont but I believe that vegetarians dont eat meat so another animal can live so by just pulling off the meat you are wasting an animal
3) No you can cook for others if theyre not vegetarians
4) If you have a deficency and there was no other option, its okay but there are subsitutes that are available ad taste like the real thing. Try Trader Joes

Vegetarians live longer healthier lives but are prone to vitamin deficency if not careful

3.i am a vegetarian and my ten year old son is a meat and potatoes kind of boy and he refuses to give up his meat but there are vegans who are vegans because they wont support the meat industry so that is y a vegan wont cook or touch meat

1. If you do not eat the meat of animals, than you are a vegetarian. If you don't eat by-products, such as milk, eggs, cheese etc, you are a vegan.

2. That's totally up to you. I try to avoid having to pick around meat, but it isn't really socially acceptable to refuse someones food they are giving you. Let people know that will be cooking for you beforehand as to avoid this.

3. That, again, is totally up to you. I personally believe that you could try to make sure that a few days a week that you cook for your family you could have vegetarian foods, but forcing beliefs onto your family is not rright. Again, that is my personal opinion.

4. Define it for yourself. If you eat turkey every year for Thanksgiving, for example, but don't eat meat for the rest of the year, I would still define you as a vegetarian. Personal opinion is what it is.

1) Vegans do not eat any animal product, be it eggs, milk, etc. Vegetarians can eat eggs, milk, still not cheese since some contain an ingredient called rennet(which in produced from an animal)

2) I don't think it is ok to pick off the meat since there are still traces of the meat, juices, etc on the food. Its a person thing though. I prefer to ask that the pizza be ordered so I can eat it, instead of me compromising(which is against what I believe) I ask the others compromise since their diet has nothing to do with beliefs.

3) I don't think it means that, It s another personal belief. I wouldn't cook/buy it, however if they wanted to cook it I wouldn't care.

4)I don't see where there would be a circumstance where you had to eat anything you didn't want to. I would say no, this is not a vegetarian

You could be an ovo-lacto (or lacto ovo) vegetarian. Ovo meaning that you consume eggs, and lacto meaning that you consume dairy. Vegans do not eat animal products like eggs and cheese, and honey and stuff.

I personally wouldn't eat anything made with meat on it, whether the meat was still on it or not... That is me, though I can't speak for everyone.

I don't like to touch meat, so that is why I would never cook it. But just because you are a vegetarian doesn't mean that your children/ husband has to be, my boyfriend is a meat- eater, I don't really care that much. If I had kids though, I would not cook them meat.

Why would you have to eat meat?
And no "he" would not be a vegetarian, if “he” willingly chooses to eat meat.

Pros:
Healthier
Maintain weight
Less risk of getting heart disease
Less risk of all the major cancers
Not supporting pointless animal suffering
Better for the planet
More energy
(Other things that I can't think of... sorry. there are more, and I am sure that the rest of the answerers will fill you in)

Cons:
May have to take some vitamin supplements (not really that bad...)
You will have to be educated about your diet. (Again not that bad)
Make sure you are getting all the nutrients that you should be getting.
You may fart more... the only real Bad thing... (Gross I know, but there are things that you can take to reduce this)
