Are vegans against all zoos?!

Question:

Are vegans against all zoos?

are vegans against all zoos? because we've all heard the stories about animal rights activists trying to help an animal escape from the zoo. because if this is so, then where can a normal everyday person go to see a collection of cute animals all in 1 place? so vegans don't support the idea of a zoo at all or they do if animals are treated ok?

Answers:
Vegans deal with eating animals and products of animals. While many of them woulod be opposed to zoos, it is not a part of being Vegan.

YES- all vegans who are vegans for ethical reason are opposed to zoos.

Animals are not property of humans - and therefore should never be caught, caged and put on display. Even zoos that treat the animals 'ok' are against the ethics of any vegan.

Vegans do support sanctuaries where animals that are resuced live the rest of their life. There is an amazing sanctuary called Peaceful Prairie - I will include a link so you can check it out.

maybe,
I think yes, because it's not good for the animals, and the whole point about being vegetarian/ vegan, is to help animals.

ethical vegans are opposed to all zoos, as far as I know, and I'm a vegan. Animals dont exist so they can be captured, brought to an enviroment where they naturally dont belong in, so that they can spend their life behind bars, and be looked at. Animals dont exist for our sake, they have their own interests and reasons. We dont have the right to rob them of their freedom.

What if someone kidnapped you because you're "cute" and put you in their "collection"?

A vegan is not necessarily an animal liberationist - although many are. A 'normal, everyday person' can go out in the forest to see some 'cute' animals ... or you could go on safari in Africa to see 'zoo' animals in their natural habitats ... Anyways, I don't think that there's any way you could define caging animals in cramped habitat sub. pens as treating them 'okay'.

nah... it's 2 different things.

Zoos attempt to inform people about animals, but at the same time serve them up in cheap plastic and paper items for consumption.

Rehabilitation centres and sanctuaries are great places to see animals. I suggest a farm sanctuary to see farm animals as well. www.farmsanctuary.org There you can view rescued farm animals.

no..not all,,
