What are some arguments against being vegan?
Please don't bother answering this question if you're just going to spout off things like "because real people eat meat".
I'm asking for an honest response please.
Informed answers only!!
I'm looking for more statistical info. Thanks :)

Well, for me its the vitamin/protein issues. If it were just myself, I could supplement, and do alot of soy. But with a husband who won't and 3 kids that don't like that kind of stuff its difficult.
Meat is tasty and high in protein. Vegetables are more difficult for our digestive system to break down. You should have a balance of both.
Nothing wrong with it. It's just not normal. The body needs nutrition that you get from meat like b12. You can replace this today but if you tried this 200 years ago you wouldn't last to long :) .
1. Flavor (it's a matter of taste, of course, but vegan food does not appeal to a lot of people, not even to those who are vegetarian or who don't each much meat anyway)
2. Convenience (you can eat in ordinary restaurants and your non-vegan friends don't have to cook special food for you when you come to dinner)
3. Nutrition (probably the most important -- it's very difficult to get all of the nutrients that you need, especially adequate protein, on a vegan diet)
if ur vegan its hard to get fats into your body. your body needs fat to build brain cells , especially if u are a growing child. thats why they suggest not to feed your kids soy milk, better regular milk which has fat.
i'm sorry, but there are no reasons. there is no excuse for brutally raising and killing animals because they "taste good". why are dogs and cats loved and nurtured whie cows get their throats slit and chickens are boiled alive? this day in age, there are enough substitutes for meat and dairy that anyone can easily go vegan with little sacrafice. in fact, you can ony gain from it. you can still eat tons of tasty foods without worrying about cholesterol or animal fats. nearly all fats in a vegan diet are good for you, such as olive oil and peanut butter. you can still get all the vitamins and nutrients you need, including B12 which can be found in nutritional yeast flakes, which are great in cheesy vegan sauces.
do it
Because not all, but a lot of vegans while 'substituting' animal products, end up eating a lot of unnatural chemicals instead. I would rather eat the naturally occuring milk/eggs than weird synthetic substitutes.
I don't have any stats on this either, but I've heard that children of vegan mothers tend to get sick more often than children of non-vegan mothers, which implies that veganism isn't that natural for humans.
I think that the most obvious answer is how we are designed. human beings have evolved into omnivores. Meaning that we are supposed to eat a variety of both meat and vegetables. And example: cows are vegetarians they have large teeth designed to grind up plant fiber. They also have 4 stomachs to digest that plant matter. They have a limited secondary digestive system (meaning small and large intestine). On the other hand you have wolves. They have canine teeth designed to rip and tear meat. They have a small stomach, because they don't need to digest cellulose (which is very fibrous and tough plant matter) They have a more complex and longer secondary digestive tract. Rational being that they need more intestines to digest the food, as it wasn't as "pureed" in their stomach.
Now taking a look at humans. WE have a large stomach and complex secondary digestive system. Characteristics of carnivores (wolves) and herbivores (cows). We have canine-like incisors(for our carnivorous diet), and we have molars(for our herbivorous diet). We are a designed to have an omnivorous diet.
Another fact is the appendix. In our early years (some tens of millions of years ago) Humans were mainly herbivorous. The appendix was used the digest the tough plant matter of roots and tuber plants. This organ has been phased out over the course of evolution (or if you believe in divine intervention God made our appendix useless) and is not used anymore.
Finally there is the question of Nutrient Intake. Its pretty much common knowledge that Human beings need protein in their diet. Yes there is protein in the vegan diet, but it is much more hard to come by than eating beef.
If you are worried about loosing weight there are plenty more options than giving up meat all together. There are lean cuts of meat available. You should not give up meat all together, because its just not meant to be.
As a side note- There are organic meats that are available for consumption. These have been certified by FDA as being organic and many are also certified by the ASPCA for proper treatment of livestock. Don't EVER buy veal though (ITS REALLY CRUEL)
I know my response wasn't factual at all, sorry!
