Does anyone know what chemicals are used to grow soybean plants?!

Question:

Does anyone know what chemicals are used to grow soybean plants?

Answers:
Lot's of variables in your question. It depends on the area, the type of soybean being grown, the end use of the bean and more.

As a general rule all of them *including* the organic ones get fertilized and bug sprayed (the EPA lists over 50 organic bug sprays). Due to the spread of soybean rust (blew in on Hurricane Ivan!!) in many parts of the country they also get anti-fungal sprays (YES, even the organic ones).

Most are sprayed with round-up, the soybean plants that are resistant to round-up are still 100% soybean genome. I'd prefer not to give my soybean GMO answer again (it's LONG) but I will if you like (or you could look through my older answers to find the info). I come close to hating Monsanto and it bugs me to defend them but their round-up ready plants aren't scary at all (if you understand them).

On a lighter note all soybeans get water. Water is a chemical after all!

They have round-up ready soybeans.

soybeans aren't grown with any chemical in particular, they are grown the same as any plant. Some farmers will use pesticides, some will grow them organically.

There are no soybean plants :/

None if you choose organic soy.
