No a thing wrong with that. Just because you eat meat does not mean you cannot work to improve the welfare of animals. There is nothing hypocritical about it.

A sane and rational vegetarian, and a minority within this forum.

Do you want to rephrase that? You SUPPORT animal cruelty?? Surely you mean you are AGAINST it, if you've tried being vegetarian?

Anyway, assuming that's what you meant, you can still support animal WELFARE and eat meat. Lots of vegetarians will disagree but it depends on whether you believe it's fundamentally wrong to kill animals for food or whether you just want animals to be treated as ethically as possible before they are slaughtered. If it's the latter, then you need to find out where your meat is coming from. It is possible to buy free-range meat and meat from farms that have RSPCA approval (in the UK, anyway). Cheap meat will be a no, no, as will eating meat in any restaurant or ready-made meal. Local farmer's markets are the best places to source meat that is produced with the animal's welfare in mind but you will be expected to pay more.

well if you think its wrong then its wrong . how ever u feel bout it. i tried a veggy also but not for long either , and right on with your quest , i back you on that

Not really. I support animal rights and I eat meat because I have a medical condition that requires me to eat meat now and then. Otherwise, I will get weak and faint. It looks weird but at least I am not being cruel to animals or hunting them for sport.

I don't believe in cruelty to animals either, but I am a meat-eater. I'm not conflicted.

I think if you were really commited to fighting animal cruelty then it should be easy for you to be a vegetarian,

Please watch this movie called Earthlings

well, if they were happy farm animals before getting sent to the grocery dstore, and not born, raised(tortured) and killed in slaughterhouses, then you should be okay...animals have been used for food since Adam and Eve... did you know that burger king only uses chicken's that have been gassed to death?? used to it was chickens that were killed by electroshock....anyway, if you ever want to try being a vegetarian agian, read Fast Food Nation... it'll scare you away from meat...and if you don't want to go vegatarian, stay away from ConAgra made foods....they are disgusting and from the worst slaughterhouses in the world that only pay their workers 1$ an hour with no benefits and in dangerouys conditions

No its fine, Animal crulety is more about people who abuse there animals. Help the poor pets that are abused, and don't really focuse on the fact that you eat meat. Those animals are killed for food, NOT, just because someone feels like it. I hope this helps you!!!

Yea, It is a bit conflicting isn't it. I am a vegetarian, but most of my friends and family are not. All my friends and family are animal lovers! I do believe that humans are omnivores and that some people just can't do the vegetarian lifestyle. I don't think those people should be ridiculed by vegetarians. Animal welfare should be approached by both sides - boycotting the meat manufacturers who are cruel, and socially and publically addressing the cruelty problems. As long as you are participating in one of those methods, take care of your body and its nutrient needs.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with a meat eater advocating against animal cruelty and don't you let anyone tell you otherwise. You're human, you eat meat. People will get over it. Visit some websites and decide what you would like to do!!

OMG!!! i had the smae problem with ny friend . im vegetarain she tried to become one . we support PETA's work and everything and she still eats meat!! i find it misseading. if u want to be veg, go to PETA,org and order the FREE vegetarian starter kit . it helped me!!
