Look on the net and find recipes. When I first started my recipe list was small, not I have pages and pages of recipes. I don't think I eat the same thing more than once a month :)
Try
http://allrecipes.com/ (veg section)
http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/... (has entire recipe forum)
You can eat different assortments of vegetables, fruits, tofu, nuts, imitation meat stuff (meat free products).
beef
Rice and Beans can be served many ways - burritos, tacos, wraps.
also i like this one alot - and its easy
take a wrap, spread some of a can of refried bean (seasoned) on it, top with cheese and bake it on 350 for about 10 minutes, until crispy, then spread some guacemole on it - Poof! Bean Pizza!
i always make stirfry and rice as well.
I am not really a vegetarian, but i dont have time to make dishes that have meat - takes too long! Veges are more versatile and cook much faster.
Hummus, tofu, soy products of any kind, vegan burgers, peanut butter ...there are a lot of different dishes you can have that's vegan. There's a variety of things you can have, just make sure you get all of the nutrients that you need day to day.
Look at vegan websites. Here's a few:
http://www.veganoutreach.org
http://www.vegan-food.net
www.nutrispeak.com/veganfood
guide.htm
www.vegansociety.com/html
/food/
www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan
www.frenchveganfood.org/
www.vrg.org/nutrition/
protein.htm (here's a site that will help you to figure out where to get protein in a vegan diet, just in case you don't like tofu, or soy of any kind, and if you don't want to only eat beans, or even peanut butter (which is a good source of protein as well).
Realistically you only need this website: http://vegweb.com/ - there is enough here to keep you going for a lifetime. Their Veglinks are highly useful as well.
Remember the importance of shopping around. Higher quality foods (not necessarily higher cost) will keep things from turning bland fast, as they can often times provide richer flavors.
And as a side note, if you can't stomach Tofu, try Temp-eh, it's super-good.
Eat everything that isn't meat, poultry, fish, seafood or has gelatine, rennet or cochineal in. There's an awful lot of food that doesn't fit into those categories!
Take a look at the Vegetarian Society website (link below). Full of great information and recipes.
stop eating pasta altogether, atleast for a little while. The solution is to become very friendly with your local dealer of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, whole grains, seeds, dried fruit, tofu, and some decent cookware. If you want to be veg*n, part of the training course is to learn to eat healthy, and since you are the only one who knows exactly what your body wants, you are the only one qualified to satisfy you. If you are nervous or worried, start with simple things, like making awesome salads and soups, because generally they are impossible to screw up and are simple to prepare: chop all the ingredients and put in one bowl. If it's a salad, serve immediately. If it's a soup, add water, boil, then serve. After a month or so of this, you can become more adventurous, trying out pizzas, BBQs, anything you want, but the important part of being veg*n is to have a strong base, both in ethical belief and in meal creation knowledge, so start simple and work from there.
Welcome to the club, you're gonna love it!!!!
http://www.vegsoc.org will be very helpful. Many supermarkets in the UK have vegetarians sections with burgers, sausages and ready meals etc. Plus online.
The sky is the limit when it comes to the choices you have. Just to get an idea go to any bookstore and browse the vegetarian cookbooks and you will see.
There are many traditional dishes that you can make veggie style such as Shepperd's pie. You also have to try to get familiar with tofu and how to prepare it.
I see that other people have given you good websites for recipes.
Also try to get familiar with the veggie restaurants in your city by looking at:
www.happycow.net
you could do a vegetable stir-fry
you can eat pizza, chips, cheese, crisps, chocolate, beer
Only joking, there are loads of lovely foods- a favourite of mine is stuffed pasta with sauce and garlic bread and salad, or risotto. Use substitute stuff too- not for the flavour, but the texture is good and provides bulk to meals (Any sauces etc). Lentils and stuff are ok, bbut to be honest I can't be bothered with them- I use chick peas or butter beans (tinned and easy) as they are tasty.
Trouble is, a lot of the veggie substitutes are fairly tasteless- so make ure you flavour things well
You can eat most dishes you would normally eat if you weren't a vegetarian! Just leave the meat out! I eat alot of mexican food and the great thing about most mex dishes is that you can substitute beans instead of the meat and it tastes great!
why just eat pasta, there is a whole wide variety of foods out there. Try something new! Fruits and veggies, of course-ever try a kolrabi, celeriac, jicama, or sunchoke? Amazing raw in a salad. Beans, lentils, quinoa, millet, arame, wakame, kombu, nori, dashi, mochi, flax, chia seeds, sprouts, sprouted peas, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, etc. There are a huge variety of rices available, more than just brown or white rice. Try japonica rice or forbidden rice, they are both dark purple in color, and really delish! Try some curried cous cous, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts. Dont limit yourself to the same old boring stuff you have eaten all of your life. Go to a farmers market and try some things you have never even heard of before. You will be glad you did, and your diet will be more exciting than ever. Good luck, hope this helps.
I'm new to this too!!!!
i like to eat a grilled cheese with tomato soup, cheese pizza,Spanish rice, french fries,home-made bean burritos, veggie lasagna. if go out to eat, don't take a single bit until you know it's veggie!!!!!
good luck!!!!
God bless!!!!
You can make things like chili and spag bol with quorn or veggie mince.
Home cook chips vegetable oil, bom bay potatoes and rice, salad, vegetables, pizza, waffles, beans on toast, jacket potatoes with cheese, beans or coleslaw, chilli con carne, rice and chips. At chinese takeaway ask for vegetarian pot of curry, fried rice or egg fried rice and chips. Vegetarian juice robinsons. And did you now that vegetarians can eat mcdonalds fries they use vegetable oil.
There are loads of choices. Not just fruit, veg and nuts but you certainly should eat lots of these.
Most decent sized supermarkets stock vegetarian burgers and sausages as well as nut cutlets, veggie roasts etc.Health food shops stock an even wider range of 'fake meat'-veggie bacon, turkey and ham etc.
Buy tofu as well. You can use soya mince in pasta dishes, cottage pies etc.As your vegetarian not vegan you can still eat stuff made with eggs and cheese so pizza's,omelette's etc.
You should have no trouble finding a wide variety of food to eat.
