A few questions to vegitarians...?!
A few questions to vegitarians...?
What made you decide to be vegitarian?
How strict a vegitarian are you, do you eat fish, eggs, or dairy?
Is it difficult to switch to being a vegitarian?
Are you happy that you're a vegitarian, would you ever go back to eating meat?
Answers:
I decided to be a vegetarian at age 9, when I realized that meat came from animals, meaning that I was killing them, and I couldn't keep doing it. I am a vegan, so I do not eat any animal products whatsoever. I actually don't think that it is at all difficult to go vegetarian- just stop eating meat, and replace it with other good stuff! Vegan is harder, because dairy is in so much. I am very happy to be vegetarian, it makes me feel like I'm making a difference in at least a couple of lives (like the starfish poem, where the girl throws back all the starfish she can because the one that she saves she will have made a difference to.) I would never go back to being omni, because I can't think of killing animals and subjecting them to factory farms or of the health consequences of that kind of diet.
EDIT: Janet, the asker was using the definition of strict meaning "3 a : inflexibly maintained or adhered to
Strictness has nothing to do with it. There are several types of vegetarians, so some who eat no meat but eat dairy, others who eat no meat OR animal by-products, some who eat fish, and so on. Check this out for the real scoop.
well I'm switching to vegetarian but I'm taking it slow. i only eat chicken and fish on some occasions.
the reason why i want to be is because I'm just not into meat. the smell of it kind of makes me sick. same with looking at it.
I'm definitely happy with switching to vegetarian because i feel healthier and idk i work out and want to keep fat off of my body so why would i consume and put it INTO my body.
and to me eating an animal is like eating one of your friends. animals have feelings. they breath, eat, sleep, have skin, they can talk in their own way (even though we cant understand them they still communicate), they have feelings. they may, as some people say, have been put her for us to consume but i just don't think it's right. than why were we put here?
i don't think i would ever go back to meat. i come from an Italian/Lebanese family so u can imagine everyone always has meat galore at the family get togethers.
i think it's best in some cases to slowly stop meat. depends on what you eat regularly.
I watched this video and I beleive that I made the right choice
http://chooseveg.com/default.asp?bandwid...
I don't eat fish becuase I beleive that it is meat
It is a living animal just like the others so why should we exclude them from being meat?
I wont eat eggs because they have a living creature in them
Dairy is okay because it doesnt harm the animal in the process of milking it
It is not difficult to switch if you absoluely are considering it
yes i am happy and I will never go back to meat eating!
I decided to be a vegetarian when i was like 11 even though i didnt know anyone who was (growing up in mid mo farm community). I just had trouble with seeing a pig or a cow and saying it had less value to be living then my dog..After i was vegetarian for a while it has become disgusting thinking about eating meat. Now, I dont think its completly horrible for people to eat meat but i think that it should all be local because the meat industry in America is horrifying.
It is not hard to be vegetarian cause you can eat almost everything you every ate before and every restraunt has vegetarian food. It is hard to be Vegan because.. at least it is where I live.
I dont eat any meat or fish. I will eat things that contain cage free eggs and sometimes things with milk and cheese but when i am cooking i use soy milk and cheese.
No way would I start eating meat again....
I decided to go veg. when a doctor told me a heart attack was imminent. I had found through research, that vegetarians were very unlikely to suffer heart attacks. I figured it was worth trying.
I am a vegetarian, I eat no flesh, little dairy or eggs. Basically just the dairy and eggs others put in food.
It wasn't difficult, because I felt I had no choice in the matter.
I would never go back to eating any flesh of any kind. I have been vegetarian for 17 years and I don't miss it. Rooms like this one offer support, recipes are available online, it would be easier to start today than it was for me.
Good luck, make the right decision for yourself, and don't let anyone preach to you about what is right or wrong.
Aly I just hate it when I hear someone say dairy doesn't hurt the animals. We have added so many hormones to the cows producing milk, in order to get more milk from fewer animals that many cows are suffering from exterior and interior ulcers. RbGH, the hormone used, killed 75% of the cows in Florida when it was first introduced. Cows need to produce milk in order to give it, why do they produce milk? To feed the calves, meaning we need to keep them pregnant and birthing. producing calves for veal or future milkers.
Sorry, but I hate it when they say that.
Yes, I do eat dairy, but only when someone else cooks something with it and gives it to me. I make my own soymilk.
lol omg thats funny i am no veggietarion because i think the poor slaughtoring of veggies is wrong! need oxygen need oxygen
I never really liked meat and then I saw a movie at school and I was about to get sick... That was it for meat and then I saw somebody cook live lobster and that was it for fish too. I try to cut milkproducts and eggs as much as I can but sometimes it just doesn't work... It wasn't difficult for me because I didn't like meat but for someone who eats meat often and likes it it could be hell. I will NEVER EVER GO BACK TO EATING MEAT. I am way to happy right now
1.I went vegetarian when I was able to understand the similarities between the rights and needs of animals and my own. Additionally, I saw for the first time the exploitation and suffering that animals undergo in the animal product industry via PETA's "meet your meat" videos. After that, there was no turning back. I could no longer eat and look at myself in the mirror everyday.
2.I am a vegan. That means I try to avoid all animal-derived or processed products, so no fish/eggs/dairy/leather/animal tested products/gelatin/glycerides etc.
3.I took some effort, but it was worth it. It gets easier everyday. Also, be prepared to deal with bigots who feel threatened by your choices.
4.I am incredibly happy with my veganism. I would go back to eating meat if I somehow changed my mind (what I'm trying to illustrate is that I CHOOSE to be vegan, I am not controlled by the diet or label)but I definitely don't anticipate that happening at any time in the future.
Hope this helps!
No death for me!!!!
1. I am all for animal rights. I didn't understand how I could love and care for some and then eat others. Hate the ways they raise and kill them. The texture in my mouth (ie. steak) blahh
2. I eat some dairy (no milk) and eggs off a friends farm only. I know how her chickens are raised and what they are fed. I also know that none of them will be used for meat. And even then I can only put the egg in a cake for example - texture again and what an egg really is, is quite disgusting to me.
3. I found it pretty easy. The most difficult thing was the stupid comments by people (esp. family). Amazing how some people can be so ignorant!
4. I absolutely would never go back. Although I sometimes miss bacon and ham - the smell. Very happy with Morningstar Farms fake bacon - eases my cravings very nicely!! :)
