Vegetarian jello shots?!

Question:

Vegetarian jello shots?

Does anyone know any good vegetarian recipes for jello shots or where to get the jello for the shots?

Answers:
you could use agar agar, which is vegan. It gels up super fast. I have never had a jello shot, so I am not sure of the consistancy, but you could experiment with the agar agar-its very forgiving. It gels in just a matter of minutes-perhaps experiment with different amounts. Its sold as a powder in health food stores and works really well-better than jello, I think Good luck and have fun!

Does Jello or alcohol have meat in it?

if you go to a natural food store they normally have some that is derived from plants and plant roots.. check out a health food store near u somewhere

jello is vegetarian -not vegan. just don't mix the jello with cow juice.

Ok, go to a health food store and ask for Veg. Jello. Some have it. It's made with seaweed instead of animal bones. If you dont' find it there, try pangea.com I know they have it there along with veg marshmallows!!!

You can get vegan jello from specialty shops, however, setting it is different then setting regular jello. Last time I made jello shots with vegan jello, it didn't set quite right - it was really watery. Maybe you need a larger ratio of the agar to alcohol ratio than with regular gelatin jello.
