What do you call a vegetarian that eats white meat (obviously not a vegetarain)?!
What do you call a vegetarian that eats white meat (obviously not a vegetarain)?
I'm pretty sure there is such a thing, it's been bugging me all day, I couldn't find it on Wikipedia, :(
Answers:
a hypocrite
Some "vegitarians" eat chicken, turkey, etc... it's called semi-vegitarian.
If they plan on giving up white meat, they are on the path towards vegetarianism.
If they plan to continue eating it, they are a corpse eater.
If they call themselves vegetarian, then I would call them dishonest.
a meat eater
Not hungry.
White Megetarian
Somebody that doesn't eat red meat.
semi-vegitarian. every ones got the right to eat wot they want
As you said, this person is not a vegetarian. Someone who excludes red meat, but eats both chicken and fish is called a pesce-pollotarian. The prefix "pesce" means fish. The prefix "pollo" means chicken. There are different variations of excluding certain types of meat while eating other kinds of meat, but none of them should be considered vegetarian.
if they eat white meat, they are still an omnivore. A pescatarian eats fish, but no meat. A vegetarian eats no meat or fish or seafood. A vegan consumes nothing that comes from an animal at all. Someone who just eats white meat is a meat reducer, but no form of vegetarian
A quasi- or semi-vegetarian. If they only eat fish and/or seafood they are a pescetarian. There are variations on those names too, just to make it even more confusing!
personally, i think that your not a vegetarian if you eat any kind of meat, however these are the different kinds of vegetarians:
ovo-vegetarian: doesnt eat meat of any sort or milk products but does eat eggs
ovo-lacto-vegetarian: doesnt eat any meat but eats dairy and egg products
lacto-vegetarian: doesnt eat any meat or egg products but consumes dairy products
ovo-lacto-pesco-vegetarian: consumes fish, eggs and milk
ovo-pesco vegetarian: consumes eggs and fish
lacto-pesco-vegetarian: consumes milk and fish
lacto-ovo-pesco-pollo vegetarian: eats fish, chicken, eggs and milk
lacto-ovo-pollo vegetarian: eats milk, eggs and chicken
lacto-pollo-veg.: milk and chicken
ovo-pollo-veg: milk and chicken
A liar.
A hypocrite.
Wikipedia can be edited at any time, by any individual, in any manner, and cannot be relied upon for anything.
Such a person is an omnivore.
They would still be called a vegetarian. They just wouldn't be called a vegan.
My medical journal describes a vegetarian as a person who eats mostly fruits and vegetables. You can still eat meat, just don't eat too much. I recently converted to vegetarianism and I feel healthier than I have ever felt in my life. Good luck to you.
A hypocrite if they call themselves a vegetarian.
They're just a meat eater who doesn't eat red meat, there's no special term for them other than one of those awkward portmanteau terms that people have mentioned above.
I see Foxy's still referring to his 'medical journal' - shame you're still getting it wrong Foxy.
"A vegetarian is someone living on a diet of grains, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits with or without the use of dairy products and eggs. A vegetarian does not eat any meat, poultry, game, fish, shellfish or crustacea, or slaughter by-products." That's a quote from the Vegetarian Society website.
By the way, they mention three types of vegetarian - lacto-ovo (eats dairy & eggs), lacto (eats dairy) & vegan (eats no animal products). There's no mention of semi-, demi- or any other type of vegetarian.
In Britain we call them a liar. Either they are a veggie or they are not.
I know people who eat fish and seafood but no other meat call themselves 'pescotarians'.White meat also includes chicken and turkey and so on though so that name wouldn't apply-I'm sure someone has made up a name for it but I have no idea what it is.
They certainly aren't any kind of vegetarian.
I call them hypocrites or liars.
Or if I'm feeling VERY polite I call them 'selective omnivores.'
A hypocrite.
I would call them time-wasters if they were doing it on ethical grounds. Meat is murder and that's that. If you kill any being for no reason, it is murder. It's all or nothing. There's a saying that goes : If you're not vegan, you're not vegetarian. (think about it) GO VEGAN !
A non red meat eater. There is no such thing as a vegetarian thats eats any meat.
A carnivore, or a hypocryte.
