Question:

I found this recipe on the internet for sprouted hummus?

Are they saying that you can eat garbanzos uncooked if they are sprouted?

Sprouted Garbanzo Hummus

2 1/2 cups (600 ml) sprouted garbanzos
1 1/2 cups (360 ml) raw tahini
1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup (120 ml) purified water
1/2 cup (120 ml) chopped parsley
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1/2 tablespoon sea salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
3/4 cup (180 ml) Bariani's stone-pressed organic extra virgin olive oil

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process to desired consistency. Longer processing will produce a smoother consistency.

Yes, you can eat the garbanzos uncooked if they are sprouted.
“Sprouts are one of the most concentrated natural sources
of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, trace elements, amino-acids and proteins on Earth. - like all vegetables, they are much more nutritious raw, and since sprouts are living food, they are the most nutritious of vegetables.”
I found out on motherearthnews that “in the course of its sprouting, the seed uses up some of its stored carbohydrates and fat, adds water, and manufactures some vitamins and minerals. You wind up with a reduced-calorie food that is still rich in protein, containing more nutrients than the original seed. For example, the vitamin C in both soybeans and gar-banzo beans increases from a mere trace during sprouting, until the sprouts are as rich in vitamin C as tomatoes.”
Cool huh?
Perhaps what Unofornaio was referring to was trypsin inhibitor . However, the levels of these anti-nutritive factors decrease sharply when seeds are soaked and sprouted.
So you’ll be healthier than ever !
Enjoy your hummus!

Yes, you can sprout them and eat them raw-I sprout everything I can get my hands on!! The sprouted hummus is really good, I keep it on hand all of the time (about to make some with chickpeas I have been sprouting for a couple of days. I like it with extra tahini and just a tiny bit of rice milk to make it a bit more creamy. Try it, its really good. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do
