Are there any ORGANIC cheese and egg substitutes?
My family and I are "ovo-lacto" vegetarians and are thinking about making the transition to a vegan lifestyle. Our only problem is finding only ORGANIC cheese substitutes. We can live without the occasional egg, but we really like cheese and use it in a few dishes. The organic cheese we currently buy is from Trader Joe's or from Organic Valley.
I know Road's End Organics has something called Chreeze, which is vegan. Are there any other organic cheese substitutes??

Check out peta.org they have books about going vegan and they tell you where you can buy vegan foods. and yes there are cheese and egg substitues. I've seen it before on the website. They tell you everything you want to know. : ) I hope I helped.

A lot of vegans will use marinated tofu to replace cheese in some recipes and nutritional yeast in others. Look up a recipe for vegan mac and "cheese" to get an idea of how it's done.
For baking, a good egg substitute is organic soy flour. I also use applesauce, mashed banana, or soy yogurt in recipes instead of eggs or butter (depending on the recipe). I found an awesome recipe for cheese sauce using nutritional yeast in Dr. McDougall's book. Check the website or VegSource.com. It may be posted.
