Three short questions about Vegetarian foods! >.
1. Is chicken and beef flavored Ramen Noodles allowed in a Vegetarian diet?
2. Are there any veggie-safe products to substitute for beef in recipes such as Goulash and spaghetti?
3. I’ve tried one soy hotdog product and it had no taste [Smartdog]. I was disappointed and would like to know if soy has an acquired taste or if this is just a bad product!
Thanks so much, I'm new to this diet and would like all the help I can get!
Answers:
First off congratulations on making an awesome desicion towards good health!
To answer your first question - there is no real meat pieces in the Ramen noodles but if the taste doesn't bother you - then I say go ahead it eat it.
The second question - I am not sure what goulash is but for Spaghetti - try Morning Star "meat pieces" it's like having grounded up hamburger but it's all soy. It comes in a green pouch. It's really good to add to spaghetti - lasagna and other dishes that ask for "ground beef"
For the third question it's all trial and error - I had to try several hot dogs before I found the brand I like - but now they no longer make it! GREAT! LOL - anyways you should try some of these name brand products (Boca, Morning Farms) they have a wide variety of meatless products and they taste great.
If you get a chance this book has helped me out a lot and it's fun to read. It helps you to transition into a vegetarian lifestyle and it breaks down the different types of vegetarians that are out there. I am considered a pollo vegetarian - because I still occassionally eat chicken - but no other meat products.
Good luck to you and be creative - there is no "wrong or right" way to be a vegetarian it's all about personal preference!

The complete idiots guide to becoming a vegetarian
vegetarians would not eat anything beef or chicken flavored unless it says it is artificial, and still most would put it back, because many artificial flavors are from animal sources.
Morningstar crumble, Boca crumbles, Lightlife hamburger style or sausage style, any of these work for me.
You need to put more mustard on the dog. Saurkraut works also.
1.No
2.Yes
3.I don't know, I've never tried it.
For #1 and #2, my answer to both is morningstar farms products in teh freezer section at your grocery store
1. It would be all right only if you make it at home and add imitation veg. friendly Chicken or beef broth in it. Otherwise it is not considered vegetarian.
2. You can use Seitan or Gluten in Goulach recipe or Veggie soy ground beef for paste, shepperd's pie....
Try Boca or Yves.
1. I find Yves Veggie dogs to be quite tasty.
1. NO NO NO.
2. YES. spaghetti is vegetarian
3. Soy tastes like tht only.
Yves hot dogs are better than Smart Dog... Not Yves Tofu Dogs, but the other ones.
1. No.
2. Boca soy crumbles. You won't be able to tell the difference.
3. I haven't found a single soy dog that is edible. Morningstar Farms Chik'n Nuggets are the best!
1. No chicken and beef flavored ramen noodles are not vegetarian. They are flavored from animal sources. But don't worry they make vegetarian instant soups that are really good.
2. Well, there are alot of things you could use to substitute beef with. You could use vegetarian veggie "burger" crumbles... kinda like hamburger chunks. Or in other recipes you could use beans, like chick peas(or garbanzo beans) taste really good in vegetarian tomato sauce. I like to mix it with rice, but I'm sure you could mix it with spaghetti, it would probably taste just as good. Also eggplant goes good with spaghetti.
3) Some products are better than others, honestly the vegetarian hot dogs are kinda bland and not good... but if you layer relish and onions and mustard on it... you can barely tell (you can also barely taste the hot dog but... lol... that's kinda the point). And alot of veggie burgers are nasty and taste like cardboard but some are actually really good. Try Boca burger's products(I had the vegan one, they were good) but there are alot of different flavors.

Good luck on becoming a vegetarian, and hope this helps.
1. no its not vegetarian. But some not so picky vegetarians will eat it anyways.
2. There are plenty of meat substitutes that are made from soybeans. Just look at your local market, maybe in the health food sections. Also you can just make spaghetti sauce without meat, it still tastes delicious!
3. I hate to say it but i think all soy hotdogs taste that way. Ive never had a good one, they always taste gross, sorry.
Hope this helps and good luck!
Have a nice day :)
1. meat flavored ramen noodles are a big no no. You can eat the top ramen brand oriental flavor, the blue and white package.
2. You can use boca burgers crumbled up, but those foods don't even require meat, so if you don't like fake meats, then just leave it out altogether.
3. Try eating the fake corn dogs with lots of ketchup, you may like it.
1. No, it has beef and Chiken in it if you read ingrediants
2. yes. try boca or morning star
3. I think it's just your taste buds are diffrent so you taste it diffrent then some people.
