Why do some vegetarians use dairy products, but refuse to eat eggs?
The Hare Krishnas for instance, use milk in their vegetarian dishes, yet they are forbidden to use eggs!
Answers:
An egg is an unborn & not fully formed chicken, yet it IS LIVING TISSUE. Living tissue has a memory & it is believed that by eating the meat of an animal OR the living tissue of one, you are also consuming the pain & torment of the death/killing that the animal/tissue has sustained upon it's death. Thus, the yin & yang concept! If you wish to attain a life that is free of torment, then it is not wise to eat the flesh of a once living creature. Also, the other animals can sense when another human OR animal has consumed one of their own kind! Milk is lifegiving & has nutrients that aid in the production of living tissue attaining a life of completion. This is a BALANCE of energy, rather than an IMBALANCE! I hope I did the explanation in a way the way helpful & understood by everyone. These are only some of the reasons why some people won't eat eggs, yet are ok with milk! The cow also finds it enjoyable to give the milk when her udders are swollen.

Milk is a lifeGIVING force, rather than an actual lifeforce who's life has been terminated in an unnatural way. Does that make more sense? I hope so! Keep in mind that milk is meant to turn a 60 lb calf into a 1000 lb animal. Use it sparingly & from a small farm, if possible. It isn't for everyone & it really isn't needed by humans, yet we Americans never seem to wean ourselves as a calf does! I have eaten at the Krishna Temple in Encinitas, California on many occasions in the 90's & I have no recollection of either being in the food that was served to us. I just remember that it was extremely good & so was to company! Raisins in the rice was the best!
because there are different kinds of vegetarians some dont eat any animal products others include dairy some dairy products. it could also be a religious thing with the eggs
most people dont understand that eggs u eat r not from mated chickens. eggs from stores r not fertile
because they're vegans
because if the egg was not sold in the store it would become a cute little chick
There is not a single answer to this question, much depends on why someone in a vegetarian:
1. Taste - some people choose vegetarianism due to the simple fact that they don't like meat. Some people may like eggs, some don't, some like milk, some don't.
2. Health - some people cut out meat and eggs due to the very high cholesterol levels (egg yolks are especially high). Where as skim milk has almost no cholesterol.
3. Religious reasons - as you have noted, may have various rules. I don't know much about these.
4. Animal cruelty issues - Some people are very concerned about animal cruelty and may not want to eat any animal products. Or maybe they will only eat organic products (without the dangerous hormones used to stimulate egg and milk production).
Well if an egg was not sold to be eaten and left alone, then it would become a chicken. Milk does not become an animal.
Because milk can't produce a cow. But if a chickens egg had been left alone, it could have a life growing inside of it.
Broad generalization are not generally helpful. hahaha
That said, I am a vegetarian who eats eggs but does not consume dairy products because I have a true allergy (not Lactose intolerance) to anything from a cow. It all makes me very ill, so I don't eat/drink it.
Each individual has their reasons for the type of diet they prefer to eat, and categorizing diets or people is not helpful, unless you work for the Gallup Polls.
Good luck
I was speaking to my friend yesterday who is a vegetarian, and she said that she and her son won't eat anything that had eyes on it at one point :) I thought that was good summization of what they do and don't eat. They will both eat dairy, but the end product didn't come as a result of a creature giving it's life.
Hope this helps!
A lot of people abstain from eating eggs because of the treatment that the laying hens recieve at the farm. Most of the eggs at grocery stores come from huge factory farms where dozens of hens are crammed into a tiny cage for their life until they are sent to slaughter. The cages are so small that the farmers have to saw the hens' beaks off so they won't peck eachother to death! Some people opt for free range eggs and some just don't support it at all. I don't know why the hare krishnas don't eat eggs b/c I'm not part of that. You'll have to go to one of their websites to ask!
Because we all have the right to choose.
