If you like to eat meat, but don't like the idea of animals dying to provide it, there is as new enterprise called "Peggie's", which buys individual legs of cows and sheep from farmers. One leg is removed from an animal, under general anaesthetic, and a wooden prosthesis substituted. The animal returns to the farm, and continues normal life. The surgically removed leg is then jointed and sold, each joint having a certificate that "no animal died to produce this meat". It costs a little more than regular meat but is considered well worth it by people who are vegetarian because they don't wish to be responsible for animal deaths. Peggie's is very new, but I believe they will be going online soon. By the way, Peggie's does guarantee never to buy more than one leg from an individual animal.

Meat is just muscle... Really you could eat anything that has muscle and isn't poisonous. It's just not in our culture to eat some animals.
Cows are animals, deer are animals, fish are animals... I've eaten all of them before.
Dogs, cats, pet hamsters are all animals too... I've never eaten one of them.

Animals are made up of flesh and muscle tissue and sinews, and bones, just like humans. You dont need to eat animal flesh to survive and be healthy, its called 'meat' because people dont like being reminded that they are eating the flesh of a creature who has been killed because they want to eat it.

Why is there a debate about this? There are no laws against eating meat or veggies. No person or group has the right to press their preference on any other. Kinda like arguing for one color or another. Doesn't matter and doesn't make sense.Animals will die either way.
