So I bought some tofu and have no idea how to cook it. Suggestions?
Am I supposed to cook it?? I read some pointers that suggest marinating it, but can I make kabobs on the grill or stir fry it w/ some other veggies?

You want to use the firm or extra firm to stir fry or make kabobs. If you get the soft tofu you can make desserts like pudding or put it in a smoothie for some extra protein.
My favorite is marinated/baked firm/extra firm tofu. It is easy to make and is great for snacking or adding to salads. You could even use the marinated tofu for kabobs, too. I don't measure anything, so here is a list of the ingredients and just taste it as you go along.
Extra Firm Tofu (as much as you like)
Soy Sauce
Sesame Oil
Ginger (can use dried, but I like fresh)
Garlic (can use dried, but I like fresh)
Five Spice Powder
Cover and marinate tofu 2 to 3 hours, or overnight in fridge. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.

3. Throw tofu in garbage
4. Drink beer and order pizza delivered.
Tofu Dressing
8oz / 225g firm tofu
4 small onion, finely sliced
? -1tsp miso
1-2tsp rice vinegar
8 spring onions, finely diced
1. In a liquidiser purée the tofu with 1-2tbsp of water.
2. Add the onion and miso and liquidise until creamy.
3. Add the rice vinegar and extra water if necessary.
Stir in the spring onions and serve over salads.

Tofu Scramble:
* 1 14-ounce package extra-firm tofu, drained
* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* ? teaspoon turmeric
* 1 tablespoon garlic powder
* 1 teaspoon onion powder
* ? cup nutritional yeast
* salt and pepper, to taste
* ? pound mushrooms, chopped (optional)
* 1 green onion, finely chopped (optional)
* 1 bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
Using a fork or potato masher, crumble the tofu into small pieces and then sauté in oil in a frying pan. After a few minutes, add the remaining ingredients, turmeric through bell pepper, if used. Lightly toss in the pan until well-cooked. Serve warm.
OK, well, tofu is SO versatile, I don't know where to begin. You can marinade it or cook it with other foods/spices to take on those flavors. You can freeze it then thaw it to create a "meatier" texture with the firm tofu. Silken is often used in desserts or to make things creamier.
I don't know what your tastes are but try some of these recipe sites online. You can bake it, fry it roast it, grill it, marinade it, stir-fry it, scramble it...you can even eat it raw, if you like it that way.

I think tofu is at its best when fried. Once you fry it you can add lots of different sauces and stuff. Heres how to fry it:
1 package firm style tofu
4-5 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil
1.Slice tofu into thin rectangles
2. Get shallow pan and pour oil in. Heat on medium.
3. Once oil is hot, put tofu in a single layer in pan.
4 Once the tofu is golden brown on one side flip over until golden brown on that side.
5. Remove tofu from pan and place on plate with paper towel to drain excess oil.
6. Add to any stir fry with veggies and sauce. Enjoy!
tofu takes on the flavor of the foods you cook it iin! Toss it in some spaghhitti and it'll taste like that! Try it out and you will be surprised how great it tastes!
Drain it well, then stir fry it with some (extra virgin or sesame) oil garlic, ginger, and soy sauce.
Simple, good. Eat with rice or whatever. I do it this way 9 times out of 10.

Deep Fried Tofu in Sesame Sauce
Ingredients:
1 beancurd
1 ? oz fresh cashew nuts
1 cucumber
1 celery stalk
1 scallion
? tsp finely chopped garlic
? tsp finely chopped ginger
4 tbsps sesame sauce
4 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hot pepper sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp vinegar
Directions:
1. Drain the beancurd and dice. Peel the cucumber, remove the tough part of celery and dice them. Cut the scallion diagonally into ? inch lengths.
2. Combine in a bowl the seasonings A, garlic and ginger and mix well.
3. Deep fry the cashew nuts over moderate heat and remove as soon as they start to change color.
4. Turn the oil temperature up to 250°F and drop in the bean curd. Remove as soon as it is crisp and golden brown.
5. Coat the bean curd in the seasoning while hot. Add the cucumber, celery, scallion and cashew nuts and serve when all the ingredients are seasoned well.
Oh, By the way:
Freezing makes tofu thicker and firmer; it also makes it absorb sauces and flavors better so drain it before you freeze it.
