Is Yoda from Star Wars a vegetarian?
Answers:
Interviewer: Master Yoda, I've always thought your name was related to the Hebrew term "Yodea," meaning "He knows," but I read in the online encyclopedia Wikipedia that it may be related to the Sanskrit "Yoddha," meaning "Warrior." So, are you the One who Knows or the Great Warrior?"
Yoda: Great Warrior? Hah! Wars not make one great.
I: My apologies, Master. I fear that was the question of a fool.
Y: A fool no questioner is. By asking, wiser he becomes.
I: Then I shall be so bold as to ask what is that wonderful smell coming from your cooking pot?
Y: Root stew. Come, eat, ready now it should be. Cold do not let it become.
I: Thank you. . . .Mmm, this is delicious. It reminds me of carrots, onions, potatoes . . . but different, a touch of wildness. May I have a second?
Y: Another helping you may have. More discernment have you than Skywalker's son. Wrinkled up his face, he did.
I: Have you always eaten roots, Master Yoda?
Y: Since from the egg hatched I was, thus have I eaten. Roots and leaves, fruits and berries, pod-fruit and seeds.
I: So you don't eat meat?
Y: With all living beings through the Force am I connected--so, how could I kill them to eat their corpses? Like killing and eating myself, it would be. Tasty I am sure I am not.
I: Master Yoda, I know we are all connected through the Force. I promise you that in the future I shall try to eat only plants.
Y: Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

When we first meet Yoda, he cooks up a stew of roots and leaves to share with Luke Skywalker. Though he lives in a world teeming with animal life, his choice of food has led some to believe that he adheres to a vegetarian or vegan diet. Some have suggested that this is due to the strong empathy he feels with all living beings through the Force (or that his species is simply herbivorous). Yoda is never shown eating what is easily recognizable as a meat product; however, we only see Yoda for a relatively short period of time in the Star Wars films, and in that time, see him eat only twice.
I hope so, cause that will explain why he is so green.
You know, thats a good question. He look yellowish, very pale, and down right sick all the time. I think he probably is.
no, a meat eater he is.
No, he likes a nice roasted Ewok as much as the next ... eh... little green thingy...
Yoda Produced his own starch from light, by photosynthesis. The chlorophyll in his body is why he appeared green.
No, he's a puppet.
The positioning of his eyes and ears would indicate that his species had either had a predatory or climbing background. His green colouring would be a good camouflage too.
Probably an omnivore - ate small animals and leaves.
Though Jedi are quite Buddhist....
No I saw him in McDonalds in '81 stuffing BigMacs down like theyy were going out of fashion.
that's what weird about starwars, now this is my question, How does darth vader eat, drink, and sleep? weird
In fact, it would seem that Yoda's entire dietary lifestyle on Dagobah was vegetarian. According to the Databank entry for Yoda's hut "he would cook on an open fire, preparing meals from the surrounding plants, such as his rootleaf stew." Being as he relied entirely upon Dagobah for his subsistence, his diet was likely also very much macrobiotic; eating only what was seasonal and local. Yoda's simple life on Dagobah was a far cry from his simple life in the Jedi Temple, and an even further cry from the lives led by most sentient beings in the galaxy for millennia.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was.
If you read comics books. Wolverine and the Incredible hulk are both vegan!
The very first time we ever met Yoda, didn't we see him chowing down on Luke's pepperami type snack - it's a bit of an animal !!
No he is the biggest meat eater ever because vegetarians are the darkside.
I hope so...I'd be crushed if my hero wasn't...
DUH!!! all cool peps are veggietarians!
I doubt it... He doesn't seem to be as snobbish as most vegetarians are.
snobbish? Have you ever wached the food channel?
Yep. Wise and long-lived.
He's not real therefore I doubt he eats at all.
hes a bit of a secret meat eater.
veggie on the outside when hes doing all his hate leads to suffering speach, but all fried chicken when the cameras are off....kinda like the peta people.
Well, he is, what is shown on the Dagobah system. But in the first three parts (begining fro the phantom manace) it isn't shown.
He might be but who knows! He could only eat green plants!
