Hope this helps.

yes, you can find everything made especially for vegans.

those made out of fruits.

You can't get vegan butter, sour cream etc. Butter is the churned buttermilk from animals. No Animal products no butter. You can get some margarine like products (that is oil based spreads), and there is soy cram (just ike soy milk but thicker). To make it sour, add some lemon juice.

As for sour cream and cream cheese there are tofu substitutes. (Tofutti is my favorite) and while there aren't "butters" that I'm aware of, there are margarine substitutes. (I LOVE Earth Balance).

Vegetable spreads are usually vegan. Try asking at your local health food store.

Earth Balance and Organic Smart Balance are vegan butter spreads...the best in my opinion.

Earth Balance has vegan whipped tubs (organic), vegan spread (not whipped, non-organic), baking sticks (non-organic), and shortening (non-organic). Soy Garden is vegan and also made by the EB company.

Smart Balance LIGHT has a vegan tub that is not as good as Earth Balance. Make sure you buy the light.

Tofutti has non-hydrogenated sour cream and cream cheese, or you can make your own by combining tofu with lemon juice and sweetener.

It would not be butter if it was vegan. Look up butter in the dictionary.

Butter - a solid emulsion of fat globules, air, and water made by churning "milk or cream" and used as food

butter= Soy Garden

sour cream= toffutii

and I haven't tryed Vegan cream cheese yet, so I can't reommend the best one I've found.

You can buy the commercial vegan butters such as Earth Balance and other brands.

But there's a better and healthier way-which is oil free.

You can cook some millet or cornmeal just as you would make a thick porridge. Add some butter flavor (optional) salt to taste, little bit of sweetener and few tablespoons of coconut, then you would blend everything very smooth while it's still hot. Pour into a butter dish or small dish and chill. This will get firm when cold and it will spread nicely too.

I use almond butter on a regular basis. Apple butter is yummy.

But by your definiton, of course not. Those are still animal products.

Earth Balance is vegan margerine. It's free of trans fats. It's made by the makers of Smart Balance. They also have a soy version and an organic version, one of which is vegan. There is a vegan cream cheese and soy cheese. I think tofuti make the cream cheese and it's pretty good. I never use sour cream so I don't know how good their fake version is.

I am a former chef from Canada and cook alot of Indian food, as Hindu's are not allowed to consume any products from a cow or eat the meat, there is a vegetable ghee, normally it is just the butter oil from clarified butter, but veggie ghee has no animal products in it, it come in jars or tin.

If you have any Indian or Pakistani grocery store, any Indo-Asia places will have it, Mongolian, Nepalese or Afganistani. It is called different things as Buddist are not allowed meat or dairy products also, it keeps in the frig and can be used asa sauting agent or to finish foods.
