How can I get enough protein as a vegetarian?!

Question:

How can I get enough protein as a vegetarian?

I want to be sure I'm getting enough protein. It is hard for me to work enough protein in my diet. Does anyone know of a book with some good information, maybe even suggested meal plans?

I know rice and beans makes a complete protein, but I have ate *so much* rice and beans!

Thanks in advance :)

Very common question that I've answered many time with some pretty good answers I think, if you'd care to read... hm, they are hard to find:

Basically, you have the wrong information. Protein is everywhere in everything you eat. Our bodies make protein form amino acids. Some amino acids we make ourselves, and some we get from our food. We store these and use them as needed. No need to combine foods etc. at one meal. Just read the links above for my previous answers, and read the resource below, it will set your mind at ease. Just forget about that silly protein myth. Even bodybuilders don't need extra protein, they are just totally ignorant.

Beans, nuts...are you a vegetarian that eats fish or no? If so, fish is an excellent source of protein, especially salmon. Plus, salmon has the Omega-3 factor that women need. Now that I think of it, so do nuts. Also, try butters too. Peanut butter, cashew butter, almond butter. Almond butter is my favorite. Second is cashew butter. I'm not a peanut fan. Well, I hope this helped a little. Good Luck and Happy Eating!!

Beans, Nuts, any soy products have protein. also you might be surprised that pasta has considerable weight in protein as well. Fruit has a little too. It all adds up. If you're just looking for a daily average, then you won't need as much as you might be thinking.

dont be a vegetarian

Fish and peanuts take my advice i am also vegetarian!

go to your health food store and ask for "quinoa"..pronounced "keenwa"...it is an ancient grain from the spinach family ....100% protien....cook by boiling and add just about anything...I curry mine, or tomato cauce....

if you don't want to eat tofu or don't ;like nuts

B vitiams are full of protien. I take these Vitiman Womens Thingy i got it for a good price and its has loads of protien in it..just take it twice a day with any meal

Have you ever tried tempeh, because it's great and it's loaded with protein. You can get it out of the health food store, and several grocery stores as well. it's made from fermented soy beans which is better for your body to digest than tofu. I fry mine in a little olive oil and liquid aminos (or soy sauce it you don't have the liquid aminos) and it taste great when it get's a little crunchy around the edges.

by the way, sissy101 is not a vegitairan if she eat's fish. does she know that those fish were once alive.

Rice, beans and corn make a complete protein. Soy products have tonns of protein and if you eat eggs and milk products include them in your diet. They are very high in protein too... As do nuts
