What does "battery farmed" mean?!

Question:

What does "battery farmed" mean?

Answers:
It when animals are raised in tiny battery cages inside dark sheds. It's the most cruel and disgusting way to raise animals.

The animals spend their entire lives without fresh air, sunlight, or grass under their feet.
The cages are not big enough for chickens to spread their wings, for pigs to turn around, or baby cows to stand up.
They are fed through automated conveyor belts and often times will strangle to death trying to reach out for food and water.
Chickens for example live 10 per cage, and the cage is the size of a standard slice of paper, with cages stacked one on top of another, living in the excrements of those above, and breathing air that has dangerously high levels of ammonia.
Pigs, when they have babies, cannot even fit in the same cage, and have to nurse their young through the bars of the two side by side cages.

it means the animals are crammed into overcrowded cages, often with not enough room to even move a muscle or sit or lie down. Its shocking that this goes on in todays world. Here is a link with some info.

The other answerers are right, "battery farming" is when the animals are crammed into tiny cages. This is a typical practice with egg- farming. There are some pictures on PETA.com.
