Is coca cola suitable for vegetarians?!

Question:

Is coca cola suitable for vegetarians?

i have heard that coke contains animal and vegetable flavours. i thought it was vegetarian but when i looked at the back there was no vegetarian sign on it.

Answers:
I don't know about that, but I do know it's not suitable for vegans since it has white sugar in it. White sugar is much of the time processed through animal bones.
I'm not a vegan, I'm a lacto vegetarian, but I avoid white sugar for this reason.
I also stay away from soda since it's ridiculously unhealthy.

ADD:
Tangarine - You might be right about the corn syrup. I think it has sugar too, but it's been about 7 years since I had a soda that I honestly don't remember.
Either way, I would rather have some fair trade dark chocolate or Liz Lovely cookies over a soda any day!

Yes,its vegetarian

soda, as a rule, is terrible for you! =(

no, its not vegetarian. It has "flavors" derived from animal sources, and the caramel color contains carmine, which is made from crushed cochineal beatles and the white sugar is filtered through "char" made from animal bones

I've never heard that it has animal products. It probably doesn't have a bunny on it or whatever just 'cuz Coke hasn't put it on the label.

It doesn't have to have a specific label stating it's vegetarian (though pareve is another way to check--that's the Jewish term for neither meat nor dairy products.) Labels still aren't 100% standardized, though they're better than they used to be.

If it had animal products, I'd say they'd have to put an allergy information statement on it.

Coke it up. I think it's fine.

yea

Just think of all the bacteria on your teeth that is murdered in cold bloodd when you drink it!

Are you really a vegitarian? I think not!

I don't think coco-cola is suitable for human consumption, have you read the ingredients? They use this stuff to clean off battery acid.

you decide , if your brave try this , put a nail in a jar and fill it up with coke put a lid on it and let it set for a week , you might not drink it again after you see what happens , also try a piece of meat the same method ,

I don't think so

Yes, coca cola is suitable for vegetarians. I have a cousin who works in the flagship store in Atlanta Ga. He said most vegetarians are pleased that it does not contain animal nor vegetable flavors.

No way.

as far as i know i would say its ok for vegs go to mycokeawards.com it might say the indgreedents so u really could find out

I've always assumed that it was vegetarian. I know that a lot of sugar refineries filter their sugar through charred animal bones, but I think that Coke has high fructose corn syrup.

NO!!!!

Yes.

"None of the soft drink brands of The Coca-Cola Company contain ingredients derived from mammals or poultry." - Coca-Cola.

100% vegan

Check the ingredients. As with all flavoured drinks, it contain certain amount of food additives.

Some food additives are obtained from animal while others are suitable for vegetarians. (See link below)

Also, depending on the country of origin, some cola factories specified their ingredients to be produced "from non-animal or plant origin".

Generally, I avoid drinks that do not have such specific labelling.

of course not. just soy milk.

It's not a plant, you silly!
