What is free range milk?( hope i spelled it right!)?
i thought about being vegan for a while(i'm vegetarian). but i thought giving all of dairy product would be hard . then i heard aabout free range. what is it and can vegans eat it?
Answers:
Free range is as useless a term as natural! I've got family that legally sell milk as coming from grass-fed free range cows! The free range is the 100 yard (roughly) walk the cows get moving from the feed pens (where they toss in fresh cut hay) to the milking barn. That's it!!
Vegans use NO animal products of any kind whether food related or otherwise!
If you want to eliminate dairy from your diet there are plenty of readily available brands of non-dairy 'milk'!

Vegetarians do not eat fish. A fish eater is a Piscivore. Spread the correct word!

I assume that it means that the cows are not penned and can walk around and eat grass happily. However, there are still issues around dairy products and cruelty. I still eat dairy but if I could afford it I would buy all organic dairy. I buy free range organic eggs from supposed happy chickens.
apparently vegans aren't crazy about free-range products either

My guess is that free range milk comes from cows who are free range-they are brought up in conditions that are not considered cruel-more space to move about etc, just like free range chickens. However, I have heard that the free-range conditions are hardly any better, so I avoid all meat. To answer your questions, vegans cannot eat any dairy, so no, if you became a vegan, you would not be allowed to drink it. You could, however, drink soy milk or rice milk.
It all depends on WHY you're going vegan or vegetarian. Some people go vegetarian because they believe that animals deserve respect and fair treatment and creatures and they don't want them to be slaughtered or mistreated so they can eat. These individuals would have a clear conscience in drinking free range milk because it means that the cows are well cared for and free - not penned up and mistreated for the sake of producing more milk. I think it also means they are natural cows not given hormones or antibiotic treatment. If you're choosing vegan or vegetarian for health reasons - then just drink organic milk because that comes from cows who are fed very carefully grains and not just whatever slop. If you're going vegan - that's entirely without dairy products - some people choose this diet for religious reasons because they believe that man was made to be vegetarian and that our bodies operate more efficiently without animal products. I'd go ahead and try it - see how you feel and let that decide - just make sure you're eating plenty of fruits and veggies and grains to where you're getting the right vitamins and protein. Some people simply feel better when avoiding animal products and processed sugar and corn syrup which are the main causes of various allergies, sinus problems, intestinal tract issues, constipation, migraines and colon cancer.
free range milk (and eggs) refer to cows or chickens that arent cooped up in a farm and just get milked all day. The cows or chickens are let loose on a open field, they can eat grass, walk around, socialize with other cows and chickens and be happy. By doing this does 2 goods, 1. happier cows and chickens means higher quality, better tasting products. and 2. alleviates cruelty, so some vegetarians, and people in general wont feel bad eating or drinking the products.
Vegans cannot have anything that is of an animal product (no meats, fish, eggs, dairy, honey) some cant even have soy.
Vegetarian however can have dairy (some eat eggs)
and Pescitarians can have fish.
Thank would be milk from a cow that eats and drinks in a pasture area and not fed in a barn. They also usually do not get injections of any kind like hormones and antibiotics.
Free to range cows would be pretty hard to corral to get milked unless they were trained to come to a barn at a specific time. It's usually chickens that are free range.
Otherwise, I'm afraid. it would be like herding cats.
