It was a simple decision many years ago .... I asked myself was I eating animals to survive or because I liked the way they tasted..? in answering that ..my next question ...was satisfying my taste buds worth their lives.?..... Never looked back..Never had to think about it again ...... and never ate meat again ( including fish .. I am confused why people think they are non animals ..I thought everyone knew that)

I've heard a few different reason - religious beliefs, amimal rights, health benefits.

Hopefully others will add a few of their reasons.

Because man was not created a carnivore!

I eat MEAT!! *drool*

mmm. lets see !

why kill animals when it isnt necessary.

i do it because i got tired of meat

Well, I was reading one of my sisters' vegetarian magazines, and it said that the average person eat about 40 chickens a year, and that just really struck me. I couldn't support that.

I have a friend who does it for religious reasons, and another who is one because she thinks meat tastes odd.

I also do it for the health benefits. It's a great way to eat, low in cholestrol and saturated fats. I think it will help me feel better once I get into the 70s and 80s.

I've considered becoming a vegetarian because I love animals so much... I've tried a few times and its been very hard, especially if you are used to one way of living, or are with someone who enjoys eating meat.

ummm... animal rights, don't like the taste or the smell. just gross.

I stopped eating meat almost 20 years ago and when I did almost all my allergies went away, I stopped having asthma, and just felt better with more energy all around. I have since become a total vegan (no eggs or dairy) a couple years ago.
I also enjoy the having a more varied and interesting diet then the average meat eater.
To sum up: I am a vegetarian mainly for the health benefits.

I don't eat it because it contains disgusting stuff like blood, pus, urine, feces, parasites. bacteria, uric acid, cholesterol, growth hormones, steroids, antibiotics and loads of other nasty things. The horrid conditions animals are kept in must cause them to get all sorts of diseases. The shocking way animals are treated is another reason I don't eat meat. I see no reason why something has to bleed and die to satisfy my greed. Food has to be cooked to a certain temperature to kill off parasites and bacteria=it makes no sense to still eat them just because they are dead.

i dont eat meat because i watched a PETA video a while back
and it sickens me to even think about eating it again.

poor animals.

I get that we are at the top of the food chain. Sadly that is just the way that it is. But the health benefits are unsurpassed. I never felt better or had more energy.

because the thought of eating a dead choped up animal thats been suffering all its life in some dirty factory farm where its been punched and kicked makes me sick. ive been looking up some sites on factory farms and if you saw how the poor animals are treated you would never eat meat again

1) I despise the factory farming industry (and the disrespect of animals by human industry, in general)

2) I respect animals. (I am an animal.)

3) I believe the human body is more geared toward a herbivorous diet than an omnivorous diet. Although we may have been scavengers in the past, if it wasn't for our large brains, we'd be totally inept hunters - and our bodies don't do well with the digestion of meat.

4) Heart disease runs in my family.

All sentient beings have the right to live and not be used as a resource! The abolition of animal use and abuse must begin in you own life.

Your body does not require any animal produce to function properly. That means any time an animal is killed or enslaved for food, it is unnecessary.

There is a ton of great food out there. You can be just as happy and satisfied by a vegan diet. You just have to find things you like.

GO VEGAN!

It is harder to digest and is full of cholesterol. It also has higher trans-fat bodies and is generally considered to be a health risk for your body if eaten regularly. Fish is the least invasive, then chicken with the skin off, then turkey, again with the skin removed, then lean pork products, and finally red beef meat. If you have to eat meat - try fish, then the birds, and then the lean pork - grilled not fried, and the the beef products. Fillet minion is the best red meat, followed by sirloin. The less marble in your cut the less fat content. With chicken and turkey, always remove the skin and stay with the white meat not the dark. The best fish for you are the fish that have white meat, as the darker the fish meat the less good it is for you. Crab, lobster and shrimp all have a lot of fat, and cholesterol in them, so stay away from shell fish. Hope this helps you.
