Vegan's only please ...?!

Question:

Vegan's only please ...?

Have any of you ever slipped up and eaten meat secretly? If so, and you can be honest, how did it make you feel?

Secretly meaning, a cheeseburger or an egg, like once a year.

Hey.... I'm a vegetarian, can I answer too?

First off *slipped-up* and *eaten secretly* are two different things.
I have knowingly eaten vegetarian food that had eggs (I don't eat eggs) because my grandma went out of her way to buy them for me out of love and I wasn't going to make her feel bad. I felt icky, but no physical effects. On most occasions I have found ways to dodge if she bought the wrong food.

I have not knowingly snuck anything though. I went vegetarian as a very slow process. I started with animal flesh, then eggs but not products that contain eggs, then products that contain eggs etc..

Now, I have had certain foods that I refused to check the labels in times of desperation; that would probably be sneaking. They were not foods that might have meat, and I did not make a habit of it.

Edit- It has been quite some time since I have had such questionable behavior by the way.

I had intense cravings the first year of going veg, but I also didn't realize how full a veg live could be. Fake meats helped me out a lot. So did learning to cook. I realized I could make the same dishes I had before, like beef tacos, but with veg *beef.* I guess this part is more of an answer to your other question, but no reason I can't do both I suppose. Go here for my thoughts on making the transition.

I couldn't allow myself to slip up and eat meat because I am the type of person who, once I give in once, I don't turn back, be it smoking, eating chocolate, or any other garbage my body wants.

Okay, I had an intense craving for meat a couple of months ago. I don't know where it came from, but I had my boyfriend make some ground beef and I ate it by the spoonful? Isn't that disgusting? It was the most intense craving I have ever had for anything before though, and it felt sooo good after. Maybe my body was really lacking protein or iron or something.

However, I choose not to eat these products more because of my tastes than the theory behind it- although I do feel good about not contributing to the horrible meat/farm animal industry.

Not intentionally, but a "friend" once put meat in my food without telling me. The fallout from that was worse than chernobyl.

Meat-no
Cheese-once,but I won't do that again,it made my stomcah feel heavy, probably because of all that grease, and then I kept thinking of some veal calve dieng because of that.I was only vegan for like two months when I did that and I was still learning which products had animal by-products and still learing the "ropes".I went straight from omnivore to vegan,so it was a real big change in my diet.

I do admit, what happens to the animals is sad, but its live and die in this world. I'm a big guy, I can't live on salads, no way.

you would only be fooling yourself. Its not like the veggie police are going to turn up and serve you with a summons for it.

I am a pescetarian, so i eat fish but not meat. (i only eat it occasionally cos i have just gone vegy and didnt want to cut too much out at once)
I have eaten gelatin in sweets etc before, without realising, and i did feel bad, but it isnt much is it? And i didnt do it on purpose...i am doing the best i can, and i know it wasnt my fault, so i dont dwell on it, although i do now always check ingredients. Oh yes and i poured meat gravy on my roast round a friends a month after i turned pescetairan, but it was an accident,a dn i felt so guilty, but i couldnt chuck the whole meal away. I didnt realise it was meat.
At the time, i felt like it was the end of the world, like i had letmyself down, but i soon realised it didnt matter. I do alot more than some

yes, but not meat, cheese, i had cheese on pizza, but it's because i have nothing else to eat, its either cheese or starve and risk damage to my body, so i do cheat
it feels like crap, i carry trail mix with me at all times, to avoid this mistake from happening again

My sister went through a drive-thru once, ordered whatever without meat, got it with meat, after eating she was sick in bed for 5 days.

I had whole eggs in Hawaii years ago, I was sick all day.
