Anyone tried to go from Atkins to Veggie?!
Anyone tried to go from Atkins to Veggie?
Did you gain weight? Are there any tips? It's difficult to go from counting carbs to fat/calories. I'd like to continue with the weightloss. I lost 140lbs on Atkins, but I think Veggie will be healthier and I'm not supporting animal cruelty.
Answers:
The Maximum Weight Loss Program
Weight Loss Is A New Way Of Eating. The Diet Is Composed
Mostly Of Starches. The Main Categories Of These Starches Are:
Whole Grains, Such As Brown Rice, Barley, Oatmeal, Wheat, And Millet.
Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, And Yams.
Squashes, Such As Acorn, butternut, Buttercup, Summer Squash, And Pumpkins.
Legumes (Beans, Peas, And Lentils)
Yellow And Green Vegetables Such As Carrots And Collard Greens. These Are Important Additions.
Fruit The Program Limits Fruit To Two Servings A Day.
eat whole grains and potatoes
all whole grains (such as rice, barley, millet,
wheat, and oats) and potatoes(including sweet
potatoes and yams) fall into the category of starches.
they are rich sources of carbohydrate and fiber,
which help satisfy hunger, slow digestion
and reduce insulin secretion by the pancreas.
eat legumes
legumes include all beans, peas, and lentils. legumes have
a protein coat and high soluble fiber and carbohydrate
content. these factors cause them to be digested and
absorbed into the bloodstreams slowly.
make green and yellow vegetables on third to one half of your meal
compared with most starchy vegetables, green and yellow vegetables
have about one fourth the calories.
to lower the overall concentration of calories in your meal plan,
replace some of the starchy vegetables with green and yellow
vegetables, but not so much that your meals become unsatisfying.
asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, eggplant, lettuce
mushrooms, onion, tomato zucchini
eliminate all animal foods
this means no meat, poultry, fish, seafood, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, or sour cream.
they are extremely high in fat. animal foods contain no fiber, which satisfies hunger,
regulates blood sugar and insulin, and maintains healthy bowel functions.
besides these problems, animal foods contain cholesterol, and have serious vitamin and mineral
deficiencies. animal foods are also dangerously high in protein, which contributes to kidney damage,
kidney stones, and osteoporosis.
eliminate all oils
remember, oil is pure liquid fat, containing nine calories per gram. that fat will end up in your
tissues and contribute to weight gain.
eliminate all high fat plant foods
high fat plant foods include nuts, nut butters (such as peanut and almond butter), seeds, seed spreads (tahini),
avocados, olives, coconut, and soybean products, including tofu (which is 54 percent fat). these vegetable foods
are high in fat, which is effortlessly stored in your adipose tissue. they provide only meager amounts of carbohydrate
to satisfy your hunger. because these foods are not of animal origin, many people are fooled into thinking they are
“health foods”. for this reason, there are many overweight vegetarians with oily skin and hair.
eliminate all flour products
eliminate breads, bagels, pastas, pretzels, crackers, and corn and wheat tortillas. in general, the less
a food is processed,
the better for weight loss.
I was on atkins for a year and i didn't like it because i was always hungry and lack of energy, but i switch to this diet and i feel better and i lost alot, and keep it off.
good for you on your weight loss :)
just take it slow and you should be fine!
My fiance lost 95 pounds in 10 months by cutting meat out of his diet completely. We eat pasta, veggies, fruit, Mountain Dew, etc. Basically anything a "normal" person would eat, just without meat.
I read in a magazine about a lady who lost 60 pounds in a year's time just by replacing meat with beans in her diet. She put them in everything - even homemade brownies, and her kids didn't know. So I think you can do the same thing, but go into it slowly, so you can track whether the additionl carbs are making you gain weight back.
i went from vegg to atkins one time, i brought all the meat, and i can't eat it, so i give it to other people to eat, it was fun
plus i think i would die if i eat $10 worth of meat anyways
i did. i was on atkins for a while and i did lose weight but i was always so ill and i didn't feel well at all. i actually believe the weight loss during atkins is caused by all that stress that one's body goes thru.
when i switched to vegan diet i lost some more weight and after a while i built more muscle and i feel great now. atkins is truly the worst diet regimen you can adhere to. you can literally kill yourself if you do it for years.
please replace meat and dairy with fruits & veggies and you'll be much better off. beans, chickpeas, whole grains and tempeh are great for protein if you're working out. also fruit will give you plenty of energy for long workout sessions and it will prevent your body from metabolizing protein.
You have to be careful. Being a vegetarian (although some people only eat salad) requires a variety of vegetables , legumes grains and nuts. A good vegetarian diet will not make you lose as much weight as those weight loss diet ...but it will be much better for your health and for our ecosystem... :)
