Losing weight ?!

Question:

Losing weight ?

if you want to give me the stick for being vegetarian then dont bother answering the question !

i have been vegetarian for many years, and few months ago, i feel sick - i had pneumonia, i was in hospital and am now on recovery. the problem is i am losing weight really quickly. i feel really boney, my clothes dont fit me anymore and my boobs are also getting smaller - i am feeling depressed about this, i am eating my usual normal diet but it doesnt seem to help me gain my weight back.

i was about 52 kgs - size 8/10 in clothes, and now i am 45 kgs, and even size 8 doesnt fit me - i hate it

pls give any suggestions about foods that help you gain weight in a healthy way. thanks

If you're losing weight really quickly but are supposed to be on the road to recovery, you should probably go & visit your doctor just to make sure there isn't an underlying condition that's causing the weight loss (eg, thyroid problems can do that).

In the meantime, just make sure that you eat a normal, healthily balanced diet - get your share of veggies, eat lots of soups & stews & pasta. They're so nourishing you can't help but feel better! Whatever you do, don't just increase your fat intake to try & get the weight back on - you need to maintain the balance of your diet. Remember your food pyramid!

Good luck!

Hey sweetie... i have one dish i love that is fatty and vegetarian... make a tortellini dish... boil the tortellini..then ina skillet put oil and lots of colored peppers and mushrooms..sautee them...then once the tortellini is done..throw that in the skillet...then throw in green pesto..sprinkle w/parmesan cheese...serve w/texas toast..it's full of carbs/calories..and so YUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!

can i suggest that you go see your doctor to discuss this matter as they will know you, what you have just been through and healthy foods for you to eat to help put back on a healthy weight.
i know what i would eat but i am not a vegitarian so that wouldnt help you im afraid.

eat more food that contain high fibre other than vege. such as bread, rice, cereals & do remember to eat them at the same time everyday. but, never eat before you sleep.if you want so, make sure that it is 3 hours before you sleep....

Try eating larger portions of food or you could try suppliments

Am not going to tell you what to eat but the more important issue is the weight. My doctor friend has told me once that whenever her patients complain of rapid weight loss it is a very important issue to investigate, the weight is very dependent on your health. If someone is very ill their body uses up a lot of energy to fight with the illness.
Most likely it's nothing serious. Might just be the consequences of your stay in the hospital

This weight issue could have other causes. Make sure you talk to a doctor like others have advised. In your vegetarian dies do you include legumes (lentils/chickpeas/beans/peas) and nuts (walnuts/peanuts/almonds) and also brown rice, whole wheats, oats. These are very important for us vegetarians. Make sure you don;t eat only certain vegetables, they need to be combined to form good proteins. Don;t concentrate on fat, concentrate on protein for building tissue and carbs for energy. Good luck.
