What Do You Call People who do not eat red meat?
Hello,
I figure that the vegeterians would know...
what do you call people who do not eat red meat? Some vegeterians get mad when people claim that they are vegeterian but in reality they just don't eat red meat, thus they aren't vegeterians at all....
So, is there a name for them?
What about people who only eat fish?
Answers:
You call them by their names.
Names usually denote lifestyle behaviors such as a vegetarian lifestyle or a Buddhist/Christian lifestyle etc.. labels exist to put many words into one word and help define a belief system.
A word to call someone who picks and chooses which dead animals to eat is hardly necessary. He she can just order the chicken and fish at a restaurant.
There is no belief system behind it as I can hardly think of a belief system for finding it ok to eat some carcasses instead of others.
:)
Edit- If they do decide to have a name, it is no kind of vegetarian. The term "semi-vegetarian" is offensive, so I suppose they could be "smei-meat-eaters" if they want.
I would call them Smart. With the findings of red meat not being good for you, it is best to stay away from it.
They are called semigeterians!
i call them both weird
both are call selective vegetarians. I am a full time vegetarian now but a year ago I just ate some meats.
There isn't really a title for people who don't eat red meat. People who only eat fish are sometime called semi-vegetarians, but most real vegans and vegetarians think that is an oxymoron.
OK...the word for people who do not eat meat but do eat fish along with a vegetarian diet are known as pescetarians(sometimes spelt pescatarians), taken from the latin word for fish. Fishitarian if ya like!
Someone who avoids mammalian meat but eats chicken and fish with a veggie diet is a pesce-pollotarian (or a fishi-chickitarian!)
When I have to explain that I don't eat red meat (or at least don't want to), I call myself a quasi-vegetarian. I don't like eating huge slabs of meat. Most people can understand what I mean.
Take a look at the wiki definition.
I would call them hungry.
I havent been able to consume much after my tonsillectomy and I am Starving..all this talk about meat makes me wanna say
BRING ON THE FOOD!
P.s.
My friend tom only eats fish.
I think he'd be offended if I called him bob or something because of this, I only call him Tom..
They are called vegetables.
someone who eats no red meat is in no way a vegetarian. A person who eats no meat or poultry, but eats fish is a pescatarian.
Vegetarian Societies call them 'Flexitarians' or 'meat reducers' people who just eat fish are called 'pescatarians'. Those are NOT REAL VEGETARIANS though.
HUH?
They are still considered omnivores because they eat food that comes from an animal.
Non red meat eaters. They are still omnivores.
A fish eater is an omnivore too but there's a fancy word for it now..pescitarian.
