Why do people still eat meat from factory farms?
I'm all for the circle of life but when i see people eat meat knowing #1 that it was beaten and abused beforedeath #2the animal was pumped full of drug so it can make it to someones plate alittle faster there are many reasons 2 should be enough how knowing this could any sain person still eat meat
Answers:
It's really difficult to tell which meats are from factory farms, which eggs are "free range". I think it is possible to buy these products, but they might just put factory farmed meat and eggs in the package and label it as so. There has been cases where non-kosher food has been labled as kosher, so you never know.
If your question is "why do people still eat meat if the animals are mistreated?", I think the answer is either they don't know or they don't care (like some of the above answers)

Most people don't care, don't know or just don't like to think about it and practice denial.
It's faster, cheaper, and supposedly more efficient to sell and eat meat from factories. But the meat isn't as healthy, due to the animals' poor living conditions and all the antibiotics that are pumped into the animal.
Not all farms beat their animals or give them steroids/antibiotics. Maybe you need to do a little research of your own and stop relying so heavily on (FANATICS!!) PETA before you post more questions.
I don't care what kind of life a cow, pig or any other animal has for that matter. As long as I have a big, juicy steak, cooked medium rare or a big slab of pork ribs on my plate you'll never hear me complain.
MMMMM, meat!!!!!!!
because MEAT GOOD, REAL GOOD
Most people don't even like to think about what animal they're eating, let alone HOW it got there.
oh man! I so agree with you, I just read the beginning of this book called mad cowboy. and it is full of interesting stuff of why you don't want to eat any animals that are fed for the public consumption. it is so gross. Cows are supposed to be greenery eaters, you know, like grass and straw and hay. but nope.. thats not what they are being fed. can you believe this? they are being fed other cows, turkey, chickens and even dead animals. llike road kill and diseased dead animals.. this guy went on the oprah winfrey show, and because he was telling the public about what he knew to be true, him and oprah both were sued. and they won in the end. but I think that just like the tobacco company;'s and al their lawsuites that the people in those slaughter houses and the other companies involved should also be sued, they have done numerous test survey's on lots of people and the results are that meat causes diabetes, and heart attacks, not like what we thought was generic, its generic alright, from the genetics of the meat we eat. or should I say,, I did it.. no more. sick and wrong. it causes cancer of the breats and colon and prostate cancer. from what I could tell from what they tested on so many people those who didnt eat meat had a much less chance of having osteoporosis. and kidney disease and liver disease and so many other factors that came from those tests by the medical association. so why are we being fed this gross and infested meat.?? Money.. its all about money.. sad too. really sad. but what can you do?
in my opinion, the public needs to be aware of the truth, and not be misled by what they tell ya no more.
This is exactly why I became a vegetarian in July of 2003 and I haven't touched a bit of meat since then. I could not have the knowledge of what happens on factory farms and continue to eat meat. Someone said to me, "by turning your back you're saying yes," and so I made a choice to protest the meat processing industry by abstaining from meat for the rest of my life. I encourage others to research and do the same if they feel called to do it.
I think its lack of information, for the most part. I had no clue what was really going on until I developed meat allergies, and found out while researching the topic. I never gave meat a thought other than how I was going to prepare it. Now, I realize how unsanitary and gross it is, and how shocking the animal cruelty is. There isnt enough information put out about it. Just think, you see ads on tv all day long for meat, but you rarely, if ever, see an ad showing how animals raised for food are treated. I consider myself to be well educated about food, but I simply had no clue about it-and I think that is the case with most people
Simple answer. THEY ARE ALL MEAN! THEY SHOULD GO VEGAN!
I wont eat meat from the grocery store. But I will eat wild meat that was hunted. I also buy my beef or buffalo from local farmers. from people i know havn't beaten their animals or used growth hormones.
there is nothing wrong with eating meat though. in smaller quantities it has many things needed for health.
I feel this way most of the time. I go to the supermarket and 70% of the food in there is not vegan. It's like 'where does this food go... people eat this?'
I've only been vegan a year but was a pectivore (fish eating vegetarian) for the last 6 years.
I just find the whole thing terribly sad. Not just sad but sick... Like you, I honestly don't understand why people still chose to consume meat.
I think that in our society 'being unaware' of the pain and suffering of animals we exploit for food, clothing, beauty products and grooming etc is not a valid reason.
Most people have the internet/live near a library and could easily access information about how animals are exploited.
It's shameful that we do this...
Please stop being sheep and following peta and all those liberal quacks. I am assuming your lack of protein intake has some effect to your brain. Until YOU have done your research and actually gone into these facilities yourself, then you have no basis for your stupid argument.
I think most people have no idea of whats involved with the meat they purchase or they don't care. Most people never ask any questions about anything - they should. Plus its not like the industy is going to advertise how sick it is- nobody would buy their meat. I'm not a vegetarian but when I seen the process and suffering the animals endure for there whole lives I almost got sick. I thought that the animals would at least die painlessly, not so. That industry is a nightmare for animals to say the least. Check www.factoryfarming.com to see for yourself.
