Does fruits and vegetables contains fat?
Answers:
The vast majority of fruits and vegetables contain little to no fat, however they do still contain calories, so if you are watching your weight you must consider that. There are exceptions to the rule of course because a lot of people think of beans, legumes, etc as veggies, be careful because some proteins will contain fat (i.e. soybeans, etc.) Think about it logically, if it can be used to make oil, it will contain fat (olives, soybean, etc etc). Also if you think about coconut as fruit be careful b/c it is high in fat.
Some foods like avocados are high in fat, but it's the good fat.
By good fat, I mean non-saturated fat - both polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. This type of fat or oil has numerous health benefits.
It transports fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K throughout the body.
It cushions and protects internal organs.
Essential fatty acids (EFAs), benefit your heart, metabolism and immune system.
Some EFAs are used by the body for structural, hormonal and electrical functions rather than for energy. These EFAs increase metabolic rate and increase fat burn off resulting in loss of weight.
Fat is a concentrated source of energy.
No one ever got fat from eating raw fruits and vegetables (no dip).
Avocados do, but other than that almost none whatsoever.
Edit - To the seed oil thingie, I wouldn't call seeds vegetables exactly. Olives are another fruit with lots of oil, true!
yes, that is why you can buy corn oil. Trans fats originate from vegetable oil. They are developed in the hydrogenation process.
Most fruits and vegetables do not. Some contain sugar or starch. Avocado does have fat though.
Have you ever heard of: olive oil, vegetalbe oil, corn oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, etc. etc. etc.
well, if you put butter on them.
Oils are fats and many cooking oils are made from plants.
Some do, but, not generally.
Mostly some of them contain sugars.
All be it natural sugar, it can be converted by
the body into stored fat if you are inactive.
Some do, most don't. Bananas and avocados contain fat.
Yeah.
