Vegetarians and vegans who had a hard time?
I understand many V&V's can rely on morals alone, but for those of you who found the transition scary and/or difficult...
What was the first vegan or vegetarian food that really made you understand you could be a v*gan for the rest of your life without ever needing to turn back?

that Amy's vegan non-dairy pizzas helped
me to see that I wouldn't have to miss out
on anything if I went from lac-to- ovo to vegan.

I missed pizza for the first 2 montsh of being vegan.
But then I discovered Nature's Highlites' Soy Cheese Pizza.
That stuff is amazing. It's so filling, and it doesn't have the greasy taste of regular pizza.
It gave me hope to find vegan versions of meaty and cheesey food that I loved. I now find that the vegan versions taste much better! I defintely prefer a Boca burger to a hamburger.
I was scared at first, as far back as I can remember, but I remember eating foods that I hated, like vegetables and tofu.. and for some reason, eventually, I began to love tofu, especially with rice. It was a nice transition, not one without substantiation.
Vegetarian cafe that serves vegan pancakes. It really helped me to find all the egg substitutes as well as know that you can replace eggs with certain fruits and vegetables in recipes and have them turn out very similar to if eggs were used (but not have the egg in them as well as not hav the egg taste).
The Orange "Chicken" at Vegan Glory in L.A. OMG! the greatest thing EVER! If they could make something that yummy out of Tempeh then I knew I could make all sorts of things without the use of animal products.

I think the MorningStar crumbles. I don't use them all that often anymore, but when I first became a veggie, I made casseroles, spaghetti and all kinds of food with it. My family are staunch meat-eaters and there was a time when I thought I just wouldn't make it...that it was impossible. That totally changed my tune!
I have no idea were to start. There is so much stuff that I love... Stir-fry, Light Life BBQ veggie shreds. The Chicago Diner, Thai Food, Indian food, etc. I love eating this way, and as many of you must know by now thats not my main reason for being a Vegan.
well ive always liked carbs and vegetables more than meat anyway, so it was not a big deal for me. i love the morningstar chicken nuggets, and chicken tenders, and having taco meat with the meat crumble things. and just plain vegetables is good too.
Vegan pizza.
One day I was itching for pizza. I had a vegan cheese which just didn't taste all that great, but much to its credit did get gooey.
Love the gooey.
So I took out my little Foreman Grill.
I used whole wheat pita from Turlock Pita. God bless Trader Joe's but their whole wheat pita is sadly lacking. Turlock Pita RULES!!
I topped it Roasted garlic. Marinated sundried tomato. Whole fresh basil leaves and of course the CHEESE. Vegan cheese. I sprinkled a little Nutritional Yeast on it just so I could at least pretend I was eating something healthy.
Sbarro Pizza, vegetable lomein, and bean burritos from California Tortilla. At first it was difficult, but once 2 or 3 weeks went by, vegetarian choices of food became habitual and natural. I should really try Indian food....
