Is eating a salad plant cruelty ?
Answers:
Yes! Even broccoli screams when you rip it from the ground!
You kill less plants by eating them directly,by cycling food through livestock you lose 96% percent of the calories that you put into it.Animals raised for foods in the U.S. use of half of all the water used in the U.S. You can feed 100 kids rice,or only four of them meat. The least efficient plant food is tens times efficient as the most efficient animal food. The rate of repetitive stress injury for slaughterhouse employees is 35 times higher than it is for those with other manufacturing jobs,Human Rights Watch says "Meatpacking is the most dangerous job in America".For every acre of land plowed down for urban development, seven acres are cut down to grow food for animals or for grazing land for animals. If everyone in the U.S. reduced their meat consumption by 10%,it would free up enough land to grow food for 100 million people(there are about 20 million starving).Livestock in the US produce 20 times the excrement of the entire US population. If everyone in the U.S. went vegan,we could cut our imports on oil by 60%.Methane is one of the four greenhouse gasses that contributes to the environmental trend known as global warming. The 1.3 billion cattle in the world produce one fifth of all the methane emitted into the atmosphere. The direct and hidden costs of soil erosion and runoff in the US, mostly attributable to cattle and feed crop production, is estimated at $44 billion a year.Feeding the average meat-eating American requires 3-1/4 acres of land per year. Feeding a person who eats no food derived from animals requires only 1/6 acre per year. A scientist, reporting in the industry publication Confinement, calculated in 1976 that the planet's entire petroleum reserves would be exhausted in 13 years if the whole world were to take on the diet and technological methods of farming used in the U.S. So not only are killing more plants than I am,you are also using up tons of water, you are contributing to the killing of animals(26 billion),you are contributing to deforestation, you are contributing to world hunger, you are contributing to soil erosion, you are contributing to global warming, you are contributing to workers' injuries, you are contributing to enviromental pollution, and you are contributing to the war for oil.All of that for what, your own tasebuds?
You should feel really bad by now.

yes
My hubby doesn't think so eating our homegrown spinach anyway...prob. not as cruel as meat? Sorry, no clue here haha HELP!!!!
1. even meat eaters eat vegetables too.
2. When you raise animals for meat, what do you think you kill in order to raise them? plants! you kill tons of plants b y using it to raise farm animals for meat.
3. plants have no nervous systems anyways, its the animals that do
Yah! plant is a life form too.
If you look at it from an extremist point of view yes. Just think, if we didn't consume anything that ever lived, we would only have water to drink.
If you're a Jainist, maybe.
I don't think so and, as far as I know, most societies in the world do not consider it unethical to do so...but there is a group in India that believes that eating plants is wrong and, because they must do so in order to survive, they pray and ask forgiveness (or something similar) after every meal. I think this is one that you have to decide for yourself based on your own ethical foundation. What do believe is right and wrong...perhaps you need a more general philosophical basis to start from and then you can see how eating plants fits within your belief system (not necessarily religion).
did you graduate first grade? If so, then you were taught that plants do not have a central nervous system, beating hearts or brains. They do not feel pain. Oh, I hear your mummy calling you-I think its time for your enema
NO.
I'm not going to denigrate anyone's beliefs, but think about it.
It's a plant.
YAY! It's been AT LEAST 15 minutes since the last "innovative and esoteric" person asked this question! We almost thought it would never appear again. But, we knew we always had the other 1000 times it's been asked to go back and look upon.
Rather than waste your time bugging and harassing people who hurt no one, why not go fight for something worthwhile? There's a genocide in Darfur. Iraq veterans are coming back to no income, no healthcare, and no jobs. AIDS affects something like 60% of the population in Africa. Homeless children are starving to death RIGHT HERE in the US.
Just seems like your priorities are off.
The answer (so that I don't get violated by losers) is that plants
A. Are not sentient
B. Have no central nervous system
C. Do not scream when tortued and killed
But, if you think that all life is equal, why do you not eat humans? Why do you not eat your dog? Why do you not eat slugs?
Yes but as vegan&proud pointed out, by eating meat you actually kill way more plants than if were to eat plants alone (not to mention the animal of course).
No, you can even take leaves off the plant and it still keeps growing.
No because plants don't have a central nervous system and therefore cannot feel pain. Also a lot of them (mainly fruit) evolved to taste good so that their seeds and pits would be dispersed by the animal eating it.
Some of us don't eat meat or dairy because it's healthy. I still wouldn't want to be cruel to any animal. Plants don't yell that loud anyway.
you must be really smart to figure this out
you can compare to a living breathing thinking feeling thing to a plant, yes you are right
no they cant feel or think
uh no..
plants have no neurological system.
nor do they have brains, kinda like you.
Now wait a second... I'm not a vegan and I'm not here to knock vegans...
Anyway, isn't there scientific study that plants do, in fact, register a frequency, or sub-sound, when you damage them or even hold flame near them? I seem to remember this from grade school. Don't they chemically react when attacked by pests, too? Some plants physically react when touched or even close their petals to trap prey. They do not have central nervous systems, per se, but neither do insects and some fish. Sorry, maybe this isn't a stellar answer, but I think eating a salad could be considered plant cruelty, sure.
yes sir eating plants is just plain damn wrong
why they dont even to bother cooking them plants
at least try and wilt them suckers in a little bit of bacon grease
you know?
a crow call twice for you
and a FAITH NO MORE plays on the player
The fact is the design is of such that PLANTS were designed for man to eat.
