I want to stop eating bad un healthy foods where do i start ?

Answers:
See a dietition. so many quacks will give you the wrong info. dont mess with your health,,

Go through your cupboards and fridge and throw out all the unhealthy stuff. Then go shopping and buy lots of fruits and veggies, nuts, cheese, etc.

Try shopping at whole foods or WildOats. They have healthy and organic foods.

One diet is to not eat any white foods, like sugar, white flour, white rice, white bread....stick with whole grain foods. Lots of green veggies too! Good luck!

pay attention to what you put in your mouth. you could also get rid of all the stuff you consider un-healthy and buy only the "healthy" foods you do want to eat.

Well in my experience unhealthy eating stems from the convenience factor. You have to remember to put aside time to cook for yourself. Forget about ready made meals and the microwave. Try to put the meal together yourself by buying fresh meat and veg. Most people think you have to eat like a bird to eat healthily but that's just not true. Everything in moderation is fine. Treat yourself at the weekend or whenever you think you'll need it most otherwise you'll just get sick of the diet and give up. Just remember that fresh is best and if you can't get fresh then get frozen. Try not to buy pre-seasoned food as it's probably full of sodium. Stock up with some dried/fresh spices and season your own fresh food.
Good luck!

Switch to whole grain breads and pastas and avoid those "enriched" white flour breads and pastas. Drink plenty of water, avoid refined foods and eat lots of veggies and fruit.

well u have to start by forgetting about the junky food (e.g. chips, chocolate, etc) and intead eat a fresh salad or a bowl of cereal, then u have to start eating balanced food which is protein, carbohidrates, and mineral rich so that u have develop and adapt to the change

Eliminate fast food as well as processed foods like lunchmeat canned meats, raviloi etc. Stay away from anything with sodium nitrites in it, unless you want cancer. Shop at organic food stores like Whole Foods, or at least buy things fresh and cook them yourself. If it swims or flys, it's better for you than red meat.

1. stop buying bad foods.
the end

Good for you, nice to hear! Start by adding some nutritious whole grains, such as rice, quinoa, millet, cous cous, etc. Beans are a super source of fiber and protein, as are lentils, split peas, and other legumes and pulses. Fresh fruits and vegetables are awesome. Yogurt, as long as its not artificially flavored and contains gelatin, is a nutritious option that adds probiotics to your diet. Try some fruits or veg that you have never tried before. Start reading labels and ingredients in everything you eat. If its artificial, chemical, preservative, or you simply don't know what an ingredient is, don't eat it. Google ingredients you are not familiar with-you will be shocked at whats in foods. For starters, google "carmine"-its red food color made from dead crushed beatles and its in everything! Good luck! I am giving you a star to give you encouragment!

Get rid of all that ucky meat (Seriously, like I could *not* say that).
:)

But here is a link to the veg society on having a balanced, healthy diet.
http://www.vegsoc.org/newveg/fft/balance...
The veg society also has tons of cool fact sheets too; so if you feel you are getting too much of or not enough of a particular nutrient, it will give you a list of foods that contain it.

So yeah, throw out your junk grains and get whole grains and make sure you are getting all your fruits and veggies in day. I bought a $50 juicer to help get all my servings.

If you have a sweet tooth, try replacing the candy with cereal (and I'm not talking garbage cereal either.)

This is also a pretty good site for tips. It builds a diet based on your age, weight etc..

Forget about ready made meals and the microwave. Try to put the meal together yourself by buying fresh vegetables & fruits & forget nonveg.

hi johnny. :) well, honestly i'm trying to do the same thing, so you should hit me up on 360 or something. i just recently cut pork products out of my diet. i'm still having a semi-tough time with that. have to learn about the greases and skins and such. what to look for. cutting out fast foods is next in line...although harder to do. *hug* i wish you the best in this!

Throw out all the junk food including boxes and cans and
bottles. Eat only fresh fruits and vegetables, and then try
to get organic fruits and vegetables.

start mentally...
think about natural foods, after all, nothing is better for you than what nature gave us, such as fruit, vegitables, grains, etc. also think about eating raw foods, think how all other living things eat raw food, while humans eat cooked stuff. if one must cook it to render it edible, one wasn't intended to eat it.
watch out for oils, salt, fried foods, junks foods, over eating, long ingrediants list, preservatives, colorings, other additives, and suger.
hope I helped

Where do you start? Breakfast.
Seriously, most of the previous answerers said the right things.

Two cautions though:
First, when people say "throw out" whatever from your cupboards, they really mean to say "Take it to your local food bank."

And second, don't jump into veg-only meals till you know how. You need to get enough usable iron and calcium in your diet. (My daughter got seriously anemic, till her doc put her on twice-a-week fish.) It's not just about grains-plus-legumes, though that's where to start.

stop buying junk food and sodas, and eat real fresh fruits and vegtables, get some vegetarian books, magazines, websites
do your own research then come back when you have questions

You have to start by really knowing the damages it causes and saying to your self that you really need to eat less unhealthy food, you obviously can't stop completely eating unhealthy food but you can start reducing the amount you eat everyday and replacing junk food with other healthy food that you like, maybe a piece of fruit or any healthy snack you like, you can still have a bar of chocolate or some crisps as a treat every now and then, but its really important not eat those things often and its important to be aware of the arms it causes.
i hope you find this useful

Congratulations, good for you!

To eat healthy, you gotsta have healthy food at hand. A good rule of thumb is to shop in the supermarket's perimeters for most of your foods. These are the healthiest foods, and decrease the processed stuff.

Here's the vegan food pyramid. It will guide you as to what to eat and how much:
http://www.vegsource.com/nutrition/pyram...

Snack on fruits in between meals if you're hungry, this will give you some good nutrition and fiber. Fruits are also very filling, and tasty too. Most Americans don't eat enough fiber, and yet most enjoy fruits. So why not make fruits a tasty, healthy, fiber rich snack? Besides, they're perfect for busy people, just grab and go.

There is a plethora of good cookbooks that will help you get started, if you don't already know how to cook.

Best to you!
