Can humans eat grass?!

Question:

Can humans eat grass?

is there any nutritional content in grass humans can use? or is grass almost entirely composed of fiber which humans cannot digest?

Answers:
Sure, but it doesn't have nutritional value you need and if it has pesticides on it you could get sick.

not that i no of

but i no my sis eats it everynow and then....

ewwwww.

yeah, but i don't see why people would eat grass.

Yes I'm sure there are some minerals and vitamins (probably Vit C) that could be utilized if the grass was chewed well enough. The fiber is of course indigestible.

It is difficult for the human digestive system to extract nutrients from grass, because it consists mostly of cellulose, which the human stomach is not equipped to digest. Herbivores such as cattle can digest grass because they have four stomachs and the enzymes to break cellulose down into polysaccharides which can be digested. It may be possible to make a nutritious grass tea, as it is with alfalfa tea. We can't eat alfalfa, but it makes a nutritious tea containing chlorophyll, beta carotene, and the fat soluble vitamins D, E, and K.

Yes, it will not give much nourishment but the can do in small amounts.

Humans aren't horses they can't eat grass. Humans don't digest grass properly it's not meant for us.

Lemon Grass is a lovely aromatic herb. I wouldn't risk munching on your front lawn, though... you may have an allergic reaction, or the weed killers and fertilizers could get you - not to mention the pollutants from cars driving by...

No. No front lawns.

Wheat Grass is higher in essential nutrients than nearly all other available foods out there. Blend a cup with pineapple and pear - wondrous!

Talk to your local Garden Nursery about types of herbal and generally edible grasses that they sell in your area. Talk to your local Health Food Stores personnel about their natural edible grasses.

Regular lawn Grass is fiber, chlorophyll, water, and I'm sure some other things. Rye grass, Blue grass, there are SO many different types. ...And then there's those silly Dandelions!! (They're edible, you know - as long as they haven't been sprayed with weed killer!!)

Before you go grazing... check with your local experts.
Peace.

Cereal grains like oats, wheat, barley, rice and corn are all grasses.

The most impressive and generous grass is Kentucky Bluegrass. One may eat this grass. It is very nutritious. This grass is not harvested for human consumption. It is standard practice, however also, to see across fences and inside horse enclosures (which encompass many acres) hippie type people eating this grass. These are not gatherers nor horders, but Volvo drivers whom park on the sides of country roads for the day for this purpose. Kentuckians are common with these folk in that they don't seem to mind this practice. In fact, there might even be what is called a gigantic joint envolved. But that would come out from within the farmhouse in an effort to move the party along. Like, out of the county.

Yeah Wheat grass, which is an herb.

hahaha.how about wheat grass????

Humans can eat grass, but it literally doesn't give you enough calories to digest it.

Hey - a new diet craze??? ;-)
