I love sushi but love animals more

I was the same way when I turned vegetarian. I know it's hard, but if you really apply yourself it's not. I get these huge cravings for chicken, hot wings, meat-filled tacos, but when it's in front of my face, it turns into something gross. Think about this; If your cat tasted like chicken, would you eat it?
It will be hard, but it is very rewarding. The average vegetarian saves over 100 a year.
Good for you, my dear, on your choice. Some words of wisdom from a little ol lady, and mother of a 12 year old veggie. First, quit worrying about what your friends think, or trying to convert them-its a waste of time and effort. Second, realize how NASTY meat is. It has growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, blood, pus, urine, uric acid, fecal matter (poo poo) and all sorts of nasty stuff in it. When you think about, unseasoned meat does not taste good, its only what its seasoned with that counts! You can season a nice portabello mushroom or some beans with the same seasoning for the flavor. Meat is some wicked stuff to digest-really hard on the body. You have the mindset that meat is healthy, as do most people-trust me, darling, its not. You do not have to give up sushi! Eat veggie sushi! I eat it all the time with cucumber, radish, zuchini, etc. No worries, it tastes the same. Good luck. You can emal me or my daughter if you want to.

I know how you feel about the animals )= I also became vegetarian at around your age for animal rights, health, and the environment. I stayed vegetarian for 7 years then I took the next step and became vegan and been one for over 2 months.
What your friends think should not matter, don't let peer pressure get to you. Do what is right for you (:
Most people don't understand vegetarianism so you can't blame them for their ignorance.
If you don't like tofu that's ok! you don't have to eat tofu just because you are vegetarian. I rarely eat tofu myself, even though I do enjoy it when it is prepared properly.
I realize you are concerned about protein.... Protein is overrated the average American consumes 2 to 5 times more protein than what is good for them. If you still eat dairy products and eggs then you WILL get enough protein I promise. You probably need about 35 to 45 grams of protein in a day, this would be easy to achieve even without eggs and dairy. Every plant or plant based food contains incomplete proteins (amino acids) your body makes 15 of the 23 amino acids needed to make a comlete protein. If you eat a variety of different kinds of food (fruit, vegetables, whole grains, legumes (beans), nuts, seeds and if you still eat dairy and eggs) you will get all the amino acids you need to make protein. Unless you are starving yourself or eating too much unhealthy or junk foods then getting enough protein is not realy a problem.
Hey you don't have to give up sushi! I eat vegetarian sushi and enjoy just as much, I make my sushi at home, and its easy to make. If you have any more questions, or need some recipes email me at [email protected] or just email me on yahoo, I would be glad to help. But you should do some research to learn as much as you can, so that you are well educated about vegetarianism.

I also became a vegetarian when i was 13. Now i'm almost 27, and still vegetarian. I stopped eating meat cause i thought it was gross to eat dead animals. I have a bumber sticker that says "if you ? animals; DON"T EAT THEM!
To become a vegetarian just stop eating meat! its hard at first to stop eating things you like, but it doesn't take long to get used to it.
After i stopped eating meat my family went to McDonalds for dinner. I didn't want to eat just fries, and i remembered burgers tasting so good... So i had one. It was 2 months after i became vegetarian, but it didn't taste as i expected it to. it was gross! and it gave me stomach aches because my body was not used to digesting meat. That was my only relapse.
You can get protien from plenty of other things than tofu. I didn't like tofu either until about 4 years ago. It can be soooo good if its cooked well, but not so nice if its not cooked in a good way.
Beans and dairy and eggs provide protien. I like a lot more foods now than i did when i was 13. i think everyone does. Most of the food i love the most i hated when i was 13! Tofu, sour cream, avocado, falafel... MMMM
Its is important to eat a varied diet (same is true from meat eaters) If you eat a lot of different foods regularly you will get a variety of vitamins and minerals and stuff. You can't live on fries and cheese pizza!
You can still eat some sushi, just not the raw fish type, you can have the rolls made with seaweed and veggies inside.
Don't try to pressure your friends too much. people hate that, and if they ever try and pressure you to eat meat, you can say " hey, i never hassle you about eating meat - leave me alone"
When you are vegetarian you can feel proud that no body had to die for your dinner!
If you are serious, what ever you do don't jump right into eating raw (veg.) you will get sick, because your body will detox to quickly. Go slow and eat cooked with raw. Don't eat anything that has , had or would have been,or come from something, with a face. Good rules. Now, you are going to get a lot of criticism, so be prepared. But on the other hand, healthier than any one of them.
Feel free to ask any thing you which. and I will try to help you as much as possible. Start exercising
You have to make a choice, dear. Eat animal flesh, or don't.
And sushi is out because sushi is )unless it is vegetarian sushi) made using fish or other sea critters and they would constitute as an animal. . .which means you would be eating their flesh.
There are plenty of alternatives...and you don't have to eat tofu. I didnt start eating tofu until i became vegan. There are countless freezer brands of fake meats and all that in most grocery stores. I wouldn't worry about getting enough protein as i assume you are still eating dfairy and eggs. Vegetarians get plenty of protein and the idea that they have to take supplements to get proper nutrition is a common misconception. Really, if you are eating enough in your avaerage day you shouldn't ever have to worry if you are giving your body what it needs.
To me, now meat is absolutly disgusting..with all those little chewy fat things and blood vessels and cartelage... You can do it. You body will thank you and so will baby cows.
