Is a vegetarian diet cheaper/more expensive/the same as a more standard diet?
If I were to return to my vgetarian ways, but do things right this time *okay, so i lived off french-fries. i was TWELVE for pete's sake* would it cost more or less or be equal to eating "regular" food? Would this mean that I'd need to learn how to cook really well?
Answers:
cheaper in the long run if you do it right as in you'll get more minerals, vitamins and plentify your body with a more mineral rich diet.
but it depends... not all prices are the same.. shop around.
make sure it's fresh!
with vegetables..learning to steam is the best... unlocks essential nutrients.

I found that it was more expensive. Fresh fruits and veggies aren't exactly cheap. Also, if you purchase products from the health food section of your grocer, you will find that prices are nearly double usually, especially on meatless substitutes. However if you are eating filet minon every night, then vegetarianism is cheaper haha.
I've been a vegetarian for three years and a meat eat for many years before that. I think that a vegetarian diet is actually cheaper than eating meat. At the grocery store it may seem expensive because of the rising produce prices, but the home-made meals stretch further. Meat is expensive by itself and becomes the bulk of many traditional meat-eaters meals. The sheer quantity of meat cooked and eaten in one sitting would cost as much as making an entire vegetarian meal with many servings!
it is more expensive to do a vegetarian diet healthy food is more expensive. When I did it I spent more money than just doing a regular low fat diet.
It is as a rule much less expensive , but if you only use organics that will add to your budget ....vegetables, pasta, and veggie meats are cheaper then meats.......well it would be good to learn make simple rice dishes or pasta dishes (very cheap meals).....who knows you might like it
Vegetarian food can be more expensive. You can still eat a standard diet cooking food in a healthy way. Try to reduce salt and fat, consume more fruits, fiber and important reduce the portions. Also, you can use natural flavors to add a good taste to the meat. For example, use natural garlic over a chicken breast instead of BBQ sauce or something like that.
Probably more expensive unless you live off bean burritos at Taco Bell alot...
It can be cheaper if you learn to cook. Most of the staples are very cheap in bulk (pastas/noodles, rice, beans, canned veggies, breads, tofu, etc...) Go to farmer's markets to get fruits and vegetables, they are cheap at most of them.
If you buy special items then it will cost more, but that is normally true of special items like fake burgers, premade frozen dinners, etc...
Rice, pastas, and dried legumes can be bought very cheaply. Fresh produce, if bought in season, is not terribly expensive. It's when you buy asparagus in December that things get pricey. If you want some of the specialty items, some of the more unusual grains, it could help to research stores in your area. Very often, there is a store that few people know about, that has these items at lower prices than the big chain health food stores.
cheaper as i eat only fresh fruits and veggs
i get more then i can eat in 1 day for less then $5 and i eat 6 meals with more then 3 servings of fresh juice
Being healthy is very cost effective, steaming vegtables or strir fry is very easy, if you can boil water. What is "regular" food? packaged animal body parts, processed oils, food dyes, chemicals, with 10% chance of bug or mice droppings from the factory, bug spray from the plant; Yes let us all glow in the dark with the radioactive twinkie in our mouth. And people wonder where alzhimer comes from.
