Can going vegetarian make you sick?!
Can going vegetarian make you sick?
I recently decided to go vegetarian, but I had some concerns. Can it make me sick in any way?My mother thinks that I won't get enough protien and other things found in meat. Thanks!
Answers:
No, it can't make you sick, so long as you don't eat only junk food.
For protein, you can eat eggs and cheese, if you are not going vegan. There are many meat like frozen foods available like MorningStar Farms and Boca burgers. You could try Tofu. Whole grains have lots of protein, also try to eat beans.
Most people only need about 50 grams of protein a day. So concentrate on eating fruits and vegetable.
When done right, it is much heathier to eat little to no meat, than have a meat based diet.
I'm a vegetarian.
I'm pretty healthy.
as long as you get enough vitimins in the foods you eat you'll be fine.
u could. Fish has protein thoe. Some people can get sick wen turning vegetarian because their bodies may be too adapted too eating meat and not not eating it for a while.
I heard that differnt vegetables have different things in them. YOu just have to eat a lot of the ones with protien. I think that soy is one of those.
sometimes, if your stomach isn't used to it, The food might be a shock to your body at first, then after a while you will get used to it, and after a while you won't like the smell of meat, Cause I tried eating meat agian after two years it would make me sick as well.
The best source of protein is nuts, you can add some varieties to salad and make it great. No, you will not loose anything by giving up red meat. Just don't turn into a nag expecting everyone else to do the same as you.
And no it will not make you sick. Just make sure you wash your veggies, There are just as many chemicals used to de-bug and green up veggies as are used to bulk up meat. It may take your system a bit to change over and get used to not eating meat. Give your body one month to get used to the change, but enjoy every fruit or vegetable and don't be afraid to try new things. You will be amazed at the new variety of tastes your tongue will find.
i recently went vegitarian to my mom said the same thing.and i admit i got sick one day and so now i take vitamins the doctor perscibed them but it is over the counter centrum or one a day are the ones he said and they work pretty good.the one day i got sick though the day after my mom forced me to eat fish and that helped but i thought i was not being a real vegitarian so then i got vitamins so i would not recommend fish
Becoming a vegetarian is the healthiest diet you can have provided you learn about it..I have been a vegan for 25 years and just had my yearly physical..healhty as could be..all levels iron, calicum,etc..perfect..bone density perfect..these are concerns people usually have but it is a fact not opinion that vegetarians live on average 8 years longer then meat eaters..they seldom have heart trouble the number one killer in the US today ..with that said..you may experience some different effects at first but they will pass quickly..you have undigested fat in your intestines that will work itself out over time..so the site may not always be pretty..your body will become healthier if you follow a balanced diet..the same as a meat eater who eats junk food..vegetarian should not over do it either..except you would be healthier in either case ...common sense is half your battle...I will be happy to email you what foods you need to be healthy and more advise ..just email me..congrats and good luck
my sister recently became one also and my mom was concerned about the same things yours is. as long as you eat plenty of beans, because they have proteins and find some good vegetarian recipes online to make.
A drastic change in your diet can cause some temp problems, but a well balanced veg diet is just as good as a meat-eater's diet. it's a bit more complicated, though, trying to get all the nutrients.
Well, if you ate LOADS of meat before and suddenly stop, SOME people do get 'withdrawal symptoms'. It is not likely, but can happen.
You could cut down the meat you have? (i didnt and i am ok!!!)
for protein eat:
eggs
cheese
nuts and seeds (very good and you can get some lovely ones)
baked beans
For iron you should also eat:
green vegetables
tomatoes
There is nothing you can get out of a vegy diet that you can get from a meat diet, our bodies arent designed to eat meat, but yours may be used to eating it now...
yes, we can digest meat, but we can digest cardboard...would you eat this???
good luck
I'M a VEGETARIAN BUT look!!!!!!! I'M HEALTHY!!!!!!!
Yes, going vegetarian can make you sick, I have seen and read of it several times because you must obtain all the nutrients your body requires from a limited range of food stuff. Sure, excellent protein comes from beans, and most other vitamins and minerals are available through veges. Vitamin B12 can be a concern and you might not get all the amino acids you require without eating a broad range of foods. Spirulena and Chlorella are great supplements to add to your diet to fill those missing gaps. Some people get very ill by not getting all required nutrients on a vegetarean diet. Take care.
Being a vegetarian is the best thing that has ever happened to me. You are even more healthier than before.
If you don't get the essential vitamins, proteins, and stuff like that it can. I have found out that becoming a vegetarian and going back to a meat-filled diet can. I wasn't sick in any way when I became one.
