Answers:
Im sorry, but tell your parents the truth. You dont need meat. Show them you are a smart kid and have done your homework and you can have every bit as much nutrition from non meat things. Some protein rich foods are beans (kidney, black beans, red beans, lentils, chickpeas (garbanzo beans), peas, and soy beans), nuts, soy products (tofu, tempeh, edamame) (look those terms up). And one of the best protein foods is qunoa, provides all the essential proteins (amino acids) that many people might claim that can only be found in meat, they are wrong.

For iron, spinach is rich in iron, promise your parents you'll eat more spinach and other leafy greens if they let you be vegetarian. And if you dont like it (i personally love spinach in place of lettuce raw in a salad, its good!) here are other sources

Then they start bugging you about omega 3s.

flax and other things contain alot. And many grains are fortified with it. Also, take a veg multivitamin (some vitamin tablets contain meat products like gelatin, ewww) that will fill in any possible gaps.

And there, do your homework and show your parents these reputable (just in case you dont know what that word means, its means believable, dependable, credible) sources and research showing everything in meat can be replaced and being vegtarian is a hrealthy lifestyle. Easy meals are bean, guacamole, and salsa burritos, bean chili, bean loaf

(this is to help you make it, show your mom this)
pasta, veggie sushi, tofu stirfry, and theirs much more.

good luck!

I am sorry.. It is hard being different .. you are probably young and there is very little you can do to control what you eat at this point but you can begin to inform them how you feel and why ..take it further with explaining that Albert Einstein amongst many others was a vegetarian and lived to 76 far above the norm for 1955 ..also explain to them that with proper diet you will be healthy and live a full life (on average vegetarians live 8 years longer ) Your parents are afraid because they do not know enough about it ..copy articles for them ..post them on the refrigerator..get books from the library and read everything you can so you can intelligently argue your point.. At 15 I became a vegetarian and my mom yelled and told me daily how I would die..she believed that .. but here I am now vegan for last 25 years ..and extremely healthy ..you need to have patience but if you truly believe eating meat is wrong there are many facts to back you up and don't let anyone tell you differently

That is one dumb-azz nutritionist. Did she fail her classes in medical school?

I wish I knew how to advise you on this, sweetie. I know that must be hard for you. I can't tell you go against your parents. You can make your own choices when you are older. I can suggest though, that you don't make an issue out of it, eat the other things on your plate. Perhaps if you really educate yourself about nutrition, and some good options, maybe your parents will see that you are making some mature choices, and will perhaps pay the matter closer attention. You could perhaps request some baked beans one night, which are a good source of protein. Maybe explain, rationally to your parents, that you would just like to learn a bit more about it, and ask them to help you do that. You can email me if you like

If you really hate eating it, then stop. It will be hard, some people in my family give me a hard time becasue of it, but you have to realise that this is going to happen. When people find out you are vegy they ask stupid q's such as 'but if there was a dead chicken in fornt of you, and noone else wanted it would you eat it, cos otherwise it died for nothing?' i seriously have been asked that question.
You have to talk to your parents and show that you are really determined and passionate about it. It will be hard, believe me, but you can do it.
Find some fatcs that might shock them-mcdonalds kill half a million chickens EVERY DAY> That is so sad.
Just proove that you ant stand to eat it. You could just cut down meat to satrt with???
Your nutritionist should understand better than anyone that you dont NEED meat.
Our bodies arent biult to eat meat. We have herbivore teeth, and just cos we can digest it doesnt mean we should eat it (we can digest cardboard)
Animals are treated awfully, and you obviously realise this or you wouldnt have come this far.
Good luck, i hope that helped.
