Tofu................ yum or yuck?!
Tofu................ yum or yuck?
Is tofu good or not? Im becomin a vegeterian and i need to eat sumthin so i was wondering if i should buy it and try it or not!
Answers:
The thing with tofu is it will absorb the flavors of whatever you cook it in. So if you cook with something yummy, it will be yummy! The texture is a bit odd, but you will soon get used to it. I'm not even vegetarian and I enjoy it in certain dishes. Congratulations and good luck with your newer, healthier lifestyle!
i usually flavor it with soy sauce and other spices..so YUM!
Tofu good.
High source of protein as its made from soya bean.

>Only buy a tiny bit...you're going to need money for Burger King to get the taste out of your mouth.<
Yum!
I have been a vegetarian for about two years now, and I have never eaten tofu in my life. Just because you are becoming a vegetarian doesn't mean you have to risk everything for tofu. I like to eat vegie burgers and other non-meat products--you can find tons of them at the grocery store. Try new things. Have fun my vegetarian friend. :))
YUCK
YUM! It's good for you and if seasoned properly, it tastes good! The texture may be hard for some to get used to at first, but seasoning is cheap in calories and fat!!!
If you mix it with something else it will take on the flavor of that
I have mixed it with chili just for the protein and it tasted fine to me
It depends, some people love it, some people hate it. It really depends on how open you are to trying new things and how creative you can be with your recipes.
I personally don't enjoy Tofu by itself, but in a good recipe with good seasonings, I love it!! I especially love it in Tacos. The restaurant "Moes" has great Tofacos.
It's so healthy, and cheaper than many meats, it's definitely good to at least try! There is plenty of recipes all over the web.
You should. It provides protein. You can mix it with other ingredients to make a smoothie if you don't want to taste tofu.
I NEVER ATE IT NEVER SAY NEVER BUT I HAVEN'T ATE IT YET BUT I DON'T THINK I WILL
It is somewhere between asparagus and pizza...
Mmm...I love tofu!
You can buy it and try it, but one of the best things to try is have it at a restaurant that knows how to make it right.
it is definitely a yum depending on the way u cook/prepare it..
first it's yum, very yum
instead of buyuing it and cooking it
go to a resturant and order it
have a chef make you tofu so you know what it tastes like
then go home and make it
then go back and beg the chef to teach you how to make tofu tastes like that.
you really don't have alot of choice for protein so make tofu your friend
Personally, I HATE it. It's disgusting. But many ppl do like it so i think you should go and try it. It's alsways good to try new things. And for extra ideas, here are some tofu recipes:

It depends entirely on how it is prepared.
If you just eat it straight out of the package it will not be very good.
In stir fries (use firm tofu) it is good
You can put the soft tofu in a chocolate pie, take 2/3 bag of chocolate chips, melt on the stove, then blend with a package of soft tofu (in the juice box like container.) Poor this into a graham cracker pie crust and you have an incredibly easy, rich dessert.
Well, with enough hot sauce and flavoring, you could even make a cat turd taste good I guess....
it's okay.......but it all depends on how u decide to prepare it.
Yum! Fried tofu is the bomb! You should at least try that dish before you give up on tofu forever. Besides, it's the single best vegetarian protein.
I really like it. I don't understand why some people find it yucky. Oh well. I like it because it takes on any flavor you want.
Now if you want to know what I find disgusting? Goat cheese! YUK! Tastes like unwashed goat hair and goat dung.
It can be wonderful because it is so versatile and takes up practically every spice. So, if you are a good cook, you'll love it, if not, it can be bland, too soft and frustrating. Start out with ready made soy products to get an idea. I love smoked tofu with sunflower seeds the most. There are also yogurts, puddings, you can make cheese cakes, ice cream, spreads, fry it, saute, stir-fry and bake it. But, there are also people allergic to soy, so, find out if you are by taking it slowly.
I actually developed a taste for it. It's kind of like a mushroom/nut flavor. An important trick to know is that you don't have to use it in the jiggly, cooked-egg texture that it normally has. If you freeze it, it takes on the crumbly and solid texture of hamburger! I haven't figured out what the soft style is good for, though. I get firm or extra firm. I also think soy milk is excellent as chocolate milk and in other flavors, although I don't like it in coffee. But it's great on cereals.
YUM. It will basically taste like anything you make it with...so fry it up in some olive oil! It's tasty.
Well, tofu is a very healthy food but not every one likes it. Tofu is a soy-bean(or maybe bean-curd) um i think, cake and it is really nice with soy sauce. Maybe you should try a little but if ya dont like it then well you don't like it. But i love fried tofu with soysauce and some rice. It's really nice. All i can say is...go for it sister
Yum. Cut into cubes, marinate for a few hours in Teriyaki sauce. Stir fry with your favorite fresh veggies. Tasty and filling!
I like it. However, I've always been open to new foods, even before I went vegetarian (I'm now vegan). I think I'm weird even amongst vegs because I'll slice it and press it and put it between two slices of whole wheat bread, add some ketchup and mustard and have a sandwhich.
For as long as I've been eating tofu, I've yet to really experiment with it. I also eat with rice, steamed veggies and soy sauce. I boil the rice, with the veggies steaming on top. When the rice is done, I mix in the veggies, tofu, and soy sauce and have dinner with a slice of whole wheat bread and maybe either a glass of soy milk or water.
I think I might try stir-frying it tomorrow. There is a dinner club at my church that meets every month and tomorrow is stir-fry. I'm gong to suggest (since there will be different meats) that the veggies get stir fried separately and the meats in different pans. (I'm hoping this will happen or I will be very bummed. Although people sure have been going out of their way at church dinners to assist the pregnant student pastor's wife.) This way, I can have my veggies and eat them too. Then I'll just add the tofu that I stir-fried at home and hopefully at least be content.
Thanks for the the recipe sites. (I'm sorry. I don't remember who shared them.) Also, just type in "tofu recipes" in Yahoo! Search and you'll find a plethora of recipes and sites.
Happy eats.
