Anyone had a vegetarian wedding reception?!
Anyone had a vegetarian wedding reception?
I'm planning a wedding and I it will be a vegetarian reception. I'm not going to be serving crazy tofu dishes or anything like that.
I was just wondering if you had a vegetarian reception, did you get any comments / responses? If so, how many? Positive or negative?
I'm also not going to make a big deal about it or announce it via the invites or anything.
Thanks!

I worked at a restaurant which did catering for weddings and one particular wedding I worked at had a vegetarian reception. Directly after the ceremony we handed out vegetarian nibbles such as miniature vegetable spring rolls, samosas, bruschettas etc.
The food for the reception dinner was a Moroccan themed buffet with delicious carrot and coriander salad, apricot and almond rice, vegetable stew, garlic okra (lady's fingers) and lots of other wonderful things. There were hardly any leftovers and the guests all commented on the delicious food.
I think vegetarian food is excellent because it is so varied and can be enjoyed by all. If you don't mention it is a vegetarian reception they probably won't think twice about it...most people love the idea of free food no matter what it is!
Congratulations on getting engaged and have a wonderful day and delicious reception!
no but we can have one if u want mmmmmmm
I'm not a vegetarian, and I went to a vegetarian reception a while ago and I thought the food was great. But, I'm a little more open to trying new things. A vegetarian meal I love is a fried risotto cake on top of a spicy tomato sauce, with grilled portabella. Its filling, has a lot of flavor, and tastes great. Good luck!
I've been to plenty of receptions where pasta was the main course, and I never missed the meat. Everyone loves pasta.
Good thinking. If you don't mention that its vegetarian, its quite likely that no one will notice. If you serve a tasty vegetarian meal such as eggplant parmesan or veggie lasagna, its likely that no one will realize that there is not meat. My 12 year old daughter and I are veggie, and her friends eat dinner with us all of the time (most nights, actually) and I have yet to have one of them ask about meat. They always want seconds, and they keep coming back, so I know they like the food. We never mention anything about it being a vegetarian meal. No point raising the issue. Good luck on your wedding and reception
No b/c I am American we eat meat.
I'm glad you asked this! If I get married (long way into the future) I'd definitely have a vegan wedding :)
We had a vegetarian choice at our wedding, but also a fish and chicken meal available. I, personally would have no problem with a vegetarian wedding. Some people might be a bit shocked if it is overtly vegetarian, but if you keep it simple and don't have the "crazy ingredients" I don't think anyone will even notice. Have a happy wedding!
although it is a very good idea i think you should have a vegetarian option just incase some people that are antimeat
congrats
